See of the world what you can. Enjoy, my friend. Thanks Rock ... I'm already working on my next adventure. Working at a marine life theme park. Dolphins, sea lions, sea turtles, tropical fish, alligators, other sea creatures, and beautiful gardens. |

I'm sitting here thinking over the past week. It's been rough. When I arrived, I saw that the home front was not in optimal condition. Not much has been done since the hurricane, from four years ago, so there's much work to be done. Rather than rest from my long journey, and take time to soak in being back home, I jumped right into applying for jobs.
One of the first places I applied at was the marine life theme park that I wanted to work at. The manager contacted me right away asking when I'd be available for an interview. I let know I'd be available Monday through Wednesday. On Tuesday I drove to Islamorada to visit my former boss, his work place is right next to the theme park. The drive tired me out and I felt somewhat dizzy, it's 18 miles away. On Wednesday, I had an interview at 2pm here in Key Largo. Then the manager from the marine life place emailed me and asked if I could meet her at 4pm. I immediately emailed her back and said yes. But then I got totally overwhelmed with the thought of interviewing at one place and rushing 18 miles to another place, in the crazy traffic here. So I emailed her back and declined the job, told her it's too far and I want to work close to home. I spent the rest of the week beating myself up for doing that. This morning I imagined writing her back and explaining my situation. And I imagined her being understanding and giving me another chance. I decided I would email her on Monday, but then decided to do it today instead. I apologized for my indecisiveness and asked her to reconsider me for the position. I explained how I had just drove 3000 miles through construction and heavy traffic. I told her how excited I was when I was in Wyoming and saw there was a position there. And that I have a very strong passion for marine life, as well as photography and wildlife. I let her know what I could offer the company, and assured her, if she gave me a chance, that I would be committed to working there for the entire winter season. She emailed me back within 10 minutes and said she couldn't possibly say no to such a well thought out and considerate email. My interview is on Tuesday, at 11:45am She's even willing to let me start out part time and ease into full time. It's still a long drive, but I remembered there's public transportation here. I could drive a couple days, and take the bus in between to alleviate some of the stress from driving. I'm feeling like it's a sure thing, but some positive energy from all of you would be great! |

I hope to see a lot of pictures! I love marine life. At one time, I had considered Marine Biology as a major. Wonder what would have happened with that one. <pondering>

I hope to see a lot of pictures! I love marine life. At one time, I had considered Marine Biology as a major. Wonder what would have happened with that one. <pondering> I thought of that when I first got back to the Keys eleven years ago. Either that or wildlife. Wonder the same thing. I'll do my best to get some pictures. Looks like the last ones I posted disappeared. So I best get busy with a different host site as well. |
