Being over 50 is a blessing in and of itself. One of the benefits for me is knowing what type of woman I like. The drawback of Mingle 2 is my type of women do not reply to my inquiries and the ones that do show interest are the ones wanting money lol. I keep repeating the phrase "perseverance pays off".

Nature meant for people to find a partner when they were young. If you really want someone later in life? You have to be more flexible. Compromise. Be willing to be open to more people. Willing to select someone not based on their looks but the person they seem to be. Be open to someone of a different race or religion. Shorter than yourself. Go older in your searching. Be willing to relocate. Accept someone with children at home. Someone who smokes. Over weight. Bald. Not such a good figure. Someone who doesn't have a few of your interests. Consider the wallflower. Some one with a serious health issue. People from other countries . A person with a lower income Otherwise you are fighting natures plan. On the other hand if you are rich and show the world you are in an attention getting way. You could like some of the entertainment stars. I don't need to list their names here. But you know them. Not just men but some older women have found partners later in life because they were known to be wealthy. But some over 50 do get lucky and fill their want list. But most won't. Time and health issue are against you.

Look up old boyfriends or girlfriends. They might be available? Walk your cute dog. Dogs can get you the attention that just start a conversation. Ask advice when in a store shopping. Wear something you look good in when out an about. Women stand a much better chance if they are not with their girlfriends.

None of your suggestions fly with me. What you suggest is making yourself miserable for a companion. Who in their right mind would toss everything away for a mate?

I had a great aunt who at the age of 84, got married. It took her just three years to realize it was a mistake. She at least got smart and filed for divorce at age 87. I had 5 great aunts that decided to skip getting married after their mates passed away. Oh, and my grandmother, who got widowed at age 33. She stayed single for 60 years.

A lady I knew said she made friends with barbers in barber shops by bring cookies and other inexpensive things. Thus being able to hangout there and strike up conversations with guys coming into the shop. She also would stop and ask a guy if she could pet his dog that he was walking. Then saying to the dog. "Cute guy".

But not everyone can be as forward as that.

If men can be forward enough , I would presume women can do the same ..... or do I sense hesitation???

OT: I think there is plenty of scope to get "lucky " after 50 .... it all depends on you and only you ...
I use my boyish good looks and school boy charm , plus my great sense of humour and a little bit of cash to get to know the ladies .... build up a relationship and the everything is up in the air ....

I have been reading a few posts for over 50. It's not easy dating at this time due to the pandemic. I just keep chatting and filtering out the "intimate encounters" which is something that I am not interested in. Using filters on this site is extremely helpful. Also, distance can be an issue as I am from Washington DC. Also, many folks are immediately looking to transition from the site and provide a telephone number. This is something that I am not comfortable with especially with just a 1st chat.

 It is difficult, and yes the pandemic has made it harder! Throw in the fact that this is an international site, and everyone seems to be miles and miles away! But don’t give up, as if nothing else the forums are a great way to make friends.

I have met a lovely man, but not through Mingle2, but having some work done on my house. He came to do some building work (which was finished weeks ago), and just keeps coming back laugh laugh

yes it seems like a numbers game, keeping in path what your criteria is, of course with some things being negotiable.
For instance, I'm highly allergic to cigarette smoke,
I think if he smokes rarely it might work.
Good Luck for us all.

Normally I’m an upbeat kinda guy. But after reading some of these messages I am now rather depressed.

A friend of mine, at the time 56ish, was about to give up. She met guys, had relationships, but never really right nor lasting.

She felt like, "I give up, but I'm going to give it one LAST try!" and became member of a paid for dating site. It was really her last shot, if it wouldn't work out, she'd stop dating etc. etc.

Within a very short time she met someone on that site, got talking, met, it clicked. Lots of fun and dating and very much in love!
About a year later she moved in with him, something she'd always said -very adamantly- to NEVER ever do again. Never was she going to give up on her own home and stuff.
Yet she did.

A year later again... they got married! She was 57. They bought a great house, and still are happily ever after. I think she's now 61.

So can it happen, sure as hell it can!!

You meet a person (in person or online).
You explore.
She explores.
If you like her you go deeper.
If she likes you she goes deeper.
You may get rejected.
She may get rejected.
Age is only in your mind. It may limit what you can do physically, but the soul is forever young, IF you let it be.
Be open.
Be honest.
Luck? Well... it depends on whether she's seen your posts and what she's after.
My 2 cents...
