No, I wouldn't. And I won't have to as Valentine's Day never really caught on here. And if people give something it's in a small way, like a card, maybe flowers. But few people do something on Valentine's day.
I doubt they'd raise prices in restaurants. They wouldn't get anyone that day, just P people O.

I don't have a Valentine to dine out with on this special day. ohwell
If I did though, and he wanted to spend the higher prices to romance me, I sure wouldn't complain.

But, I would much rather make dinner and have a quiet romantic dinner at home, than with a bunch of strangers in the room. Especially now with everyone having to wear face masks.

Seriously? Are you putting a :moneybag: value on how couples may want to celebrate a special day for them?
It's also a day that 'restaurants' cater for the times when business is slow.
Maybe some might raise their prices, but I'm confident that most offer a better experience for those who want to enjoy it.
I don't believe in Valentines Day personally, however, for those that do, I hope their experience is amazing. Irrespective of cost!

And this is why vday is 🤮 to me..

If I'm not showing her love the whole year through doing everyday things.. this one day is not going to fix a damn thing if I haven't.

I've always despised price gougers.

Duh!
Did you know Valentine's Day is a florist's holiday more than a restaurant's.
Check the prices of roses near Valentine's day compared to the cost the rest of the year.
Also check the saturation of chocolates and greeting cards.
Valentine's Day is a commercial staple for some businesses.
Similar to the price and availability changes which occur in tourist towns during tourist season.

When you are with someone who is very special to you, everyday is Valentine's Day. The 'holiday' is a way to express that love just a bit more than usual. It focuses on the idea of the love you feel for each other. Its a celebration of that love and the cost is relative only to those directly involved.

If the expression of the love you feel for the other demands you take them to the most expensive restaurant in town, then do it. Its not about the amount of money you spend but the quality of love you feel for them. However, if you attempt to quantify the love you feel for them based on money, don't be surprised if the gesture backfires. You cultivate the love you share, if you put stipulations on it, you get related results in the relationship.
Love breaks expectations and exceeds reason. Just let your love flow and be responsive to the love they show. Love doesn't require money.

If a man wasn't showing me love the whole year through... there wouldn't be a Valentine's Day for us! winking

It's not about waiting for that special day to show your love. It's more like what Tom just said... a holiday that focuses on the love you share. A special day, like birthdays, or Mother's/Father's day. You certainly show affection to mom and dad throughout the year, some of us or if you're able to, but on those days, you devote your time and attention to honor them and give them a little extra love and appreciation. Valentine's Day is the day to feel that energy of love just a little bit more. Doesn't mean you can't do it every other day of the year though.

Yes, and such special days are also great to keep a connection fun and keep you wanting more as opposed to things becoming dull.
And I don't need expensive things for that on Valentine's Day. Like someone saying in the other VDay topic that he went all out, hotel, expensive things, and she wasn't all that impressed because she felt it was about a small gift or a card.
I'm like that too. Something elaborate like that is out of proportion, so there's no need for it to cost a lot.
I'd be totally thrilled to get an anonymous card.
Once I got a message on my phone from my then partner, along with a Cupid angel made from symbols and letters.
I was on lunch break at work and I melted. BIG smile! My colleagues noticed and grinned as they'd worked it out, haha.
No expensive, huge pay-off, lol.

I love those little messages. I'm not into anything elaborate or expensive either. Just something simple that is a little over and above the every day stuff. I'm a sucker for romance... so it would definitely warm my heart to get a message with little cupids, haha.

I'm now on a quest.
I called the local liquor stores but nobody has it or can get it.
I'm looking for
Manischewitz Elderberry Wine
I'm wondering how hard it is to get anywhere in a brick & mortar liquor store?
Oh, I can order it online but I want to go pick it out and have ready access to it so I can get more, if she likes it.

So, I'm curious if any of y'all have seen it in your local markets?
I want to introduce her to something new a different on V-Day.
A way to expand her horizons a lil.
She likes wine and so do I.
I've had it and I like it.

Are you willing to pay more to Dine out on this Special Day!

Maybe.

I'm willing to pay more if I perceive an increase in value in what I'm getting?

One restaurant I used to frequent was owned by a famous chef who retired locally.
Sometimes, some special occasions or holidays, he'd come in and (extremely) limit seating and operation, rearrange placement (where each table had a view of the mountains or river, or sunset, but they were all kinda private). Extending invitations or allowing reservations only from a few well known regulars.
He'd either prepare a giant multi course dinner where everyone was offered the same thing, or he'd personally prepare each table's/couples dishes.

I've seen where restaurants like Applebees offer a "Valentines Date Special!"
They limit the menu but they either only offer their most popular regular dishes (like "2 entrees, an app, and dessert!"), or stick to cliche offerings like steak and lobster, shrimp cocktail, and chocolate cake.
But they'd charge, sometimes, double their normal menu prices.

I'd pay more if the "dine out" place added value and offered something "special."

I would not pay more if a restaurant was simply exploiting a holiday to charge extra for the same crap just rearranged or because they got a "good deal" from a guy in a van on 2000 lbs of frozen shrimp and Valentines is a great time to move it.
