I think your question should be "Why do they ghost me?"
Maybe a Google translate mistake.

It's when someone disappears shortly after you start communicating. Everything seems fine between the two of you, then he/she suddenly stops writing, no explanation or anything. He/She just disappears out of your life.

Oh... ok..

Well... I'd say it's because of possible distance and other factors that they realize there cant be a chance of meeting or it becoming more than just what it is so they just give up? They get bored with just messages, meet someone close.. who knows.

laugh Ah, then the one who messages me every 3 to 6 months, then disappears in the middle of a conversation, would qualify as a ghost. laugh He amuses me, so I haven't blocked him yet. biggrin

I thought it was called gaslighting when someone stopped talking, then suddenly was back again, then gone, etc. etc.

I looked that up yesterday as I wanted to mention it here, but all I could find was a description of behavioural pattern that to me seems exactly like NPD.

In any case... why would someone do that, if that's the question. I suppose they don't want to commit, or at least not to you. They're just bored or the other fish in their pond has left them and they need a time-filler.

Gaslighting is when they make out you are going crazy and it is not their behaviour, so the problem is you, not them. A type of manipulation actually.

I agree. I think spasmodic communication is very disrespectful, but each to their own.
