Topic: lets debate this

Ok the REAL video was the most awesome thing I have ever seen. I also bet that the Christians here will not be brave enough to watch the whole thing and debate it.

I wouldn't bet too much on that. What is there to debate? First off, Jesus was very likely not born on December 25th, and no one has a clue as to how many wise men there were. But you knew that - right.

What about born of a virgin, baptized at 30, crucified, roes from the dead in 3 days, called the alpha and omega,

I wasn’t able to watch the video, but my sister watched it and from what she mentioned I take it that the video is simply questioning the uniqueness of Christianity?

Something like this site does?:

http://www.pocm.info/getting_started_pocm.html

If that’s the case then I fully support that this is indeed the case. I think the fact that Christianity is not unique is well-established and anyone who denies this can only be turning a blind eye to historical truth.

This YouTube video is the beginning section of a movie titled 'Zeitgeist' which was posted in the threads quite a while back by Davinci.

Interesting food for thought ...

What about it? It means nothing. The events of Jesus' life were not unique - they were prophesized. Hundreds of years before a number of the "myths" that were listed. Of course there are going to be similarities, as the myths could have easily been forced fullment of the prophecies which preceeded them. It is up to the interpreter to determine which of the examples are legitimate, and which are not.

Eljay,

3 Wisemen/aka Kings remains are in a Gold "Box" in Cologne (Koln) Cathedral in Germany. I have seen the box. It says "Caspar, Melchior and Baathasar are buried here." I was only taught that these were the 3 Kings who traveled afar to bring Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to the Lord Jesus in Bethelem, guided by a star.
I have also been in the presence of The remains of St. Peter in the Crypt below the Vatican, in Rome.
The feeling is beyond description!
It is the closest I will ever get to Bethlehem or the Holy Land.

Thousands of years before the old testment there was the Egyptian god Horus.

He was born Dec 25
Born of a virgin
star in the east
adorned by 3 kings
teacher at 12
baptized at 30
had 12 followers
He performed miracle's like healing sick and walking on water
he was called the lamb of god
he was betrayed
crucified died
buried for 3 days
then resurrected

I was just going to say the same thing Artgurl said - the beginning of the Zeitgeist Movie.

It makes little sense to debate such issues, because those who are 'committed' to their faith, NEED that faith. Just as there is no Proof to be had to change the mind of a 'non-believer' there is none that can change the focus of those who believe what they will.

The only possible debate would be whether or not a society should ban any such proclamations. In this case I would say; if a society that allows freedom of speech bans such movies as Zeiteist or any part of it, than it should also ban any other commercial use from the religious aspect.

In other words, no speaking against, no speaking for. No radion, no television, no broadband, no internet, no 'commercialism' of any kind.

But then, we wouldn't be living the American dream - would we?

Hey Redy,

My beliefs are provisional. I'd change my mind if there was documented evidence that praying to a specific god made an amputee's limb grow back. That's a simple, reasonable task for an "all-powerful" deity who answers prayers, sincerely wants a relationship with me, and doesn't want me to burn in a fiery furnace for eternity. I'm still waiting though.

im not big on debating in this subject, buy here is my opinion.. it does not matter what race, religion.. God/Jesus loves us equally and just the same no matter what path we choose in religion as long as at the end of the day we put our faith in his hands. My grandma always told me pray to whatever God may be yours in your heart, just dont judge others for following what they believe!

Anicient Egyptian writings shouldn't be taken as gospel. Isis [Horus' mother] married her own brother.

She was referred to as the moon shining over the sea.

And from what I can see, this youtube video is taking things a bit too far and instead of referring to Isis as a woman, the creator of the vid' would probably have tried to tell us that she actually is the moon.

Stupid.

The original video scared me through and through though.

Of course - but you must specifically state the nature of the miracle that would change. For example, there may well be a time when the stem cells of a limbless person can be made to generate a missing limb.?!

In your mind and mine, such miracle would have to, first be warrented. In other words, scientifically documented, an event haralded by prayer, also documented, and then spontaneous, within a 'miraculous' time span, say over night.

LOL - yes, I would believe too.

But science holds no mystery for the fundamentalist, no amount of documentation will 'prove' their believe wrong. Sometimes such argument only serves to make them dig in deeper. A door becomes a wall, when it is never used.

And Lots wife became a pillar of salt. And the 'devil' has horns and a tail, and dwells in a place of suphur and fire. And a burning bush spoke to a man on a mountain top. A woman was made from the rib of a man, and a man was crucified (dead and buried) but was seen to rise again and speak.

But I'm not laughing, because if you find comfort in these things than have at it. But remember, what you believe, as this vidio showed, is often the same thing that others believe of a 'Different' god, yet laugh and call them stupid.

Someone needs to repent their sin of judgement. But don't worry, I'm sure you will be forgiven - so go and sin, no more.

peace laughing lady

That part is actually a selection from the "Zeitigist". Look up the movie you will actually see people break the section about christ down and proves it inaccuracies.
