I'd appreciate some responses from women on this forum.
Men seems to be flattering me an awful lot and I am wondering if this is pretty typical for this type of site. I do have nice photos on line and I look younger than my age. I suppose I am wondering if it can be sincere. It seems to me this type of thing doesn't happen as much when you are meeting in person. |

Alex. Yes those messages are good for the ego. It took me a while to realize that almost all initial messages that comment on physical appearance are from time wasters who have not seen my written profile and send canned greetings to anyone whose photo they like. I don't know the motivation. After one round of messaging it's not going to go anywhere.

If you want to compliment her physical appearance, do it later so it doesn't seem like a pickup line. |

You do have very nice photos, so expect some honest flattery; but many will be scammers. If they don't want to chat just on mingle, they are probably suspect. If they don't chat on the forums, they could be fake. Never give details of anything. Have a laugh.

They all think alike, you will get 20 emails all with the same words in an hour. Every now and again you might uncover a legitimate, sincere male being. No flattery, just some pertinent patter that reaches out to you. Grab and run toots ;-) |

Well, looking at your photos you are asking for it. They're good photos, no judgement, but if you get such posey photos up that's usually what you want and also will get.
Just take the flattery, get your profile text sussed asap and keep your intuitive antenna out and in good working order to sort the wheat from the chaff. |

The only times *I* get messages claiming I am "beautiful", "gorgeous", "stunning", or have a beautiful smile (I am not smiling in my picture), or beautiful eyes (I am wearing sunglasses)...it is *always* from a fake person.. And, even if it wasn't..if THAT is all you can say in your initial message (as opposed to, say, commenting on something in my profile we share in common..), then I doubt I'd be interested anyway.. |

Also, if there's nothing for them to comment on in your profile: jackpot! for a scammer, as they may not even speak English and rotate various 'compliments' cut/pasted from the scammer handbook. |
