I don't have to pretend I am Irish, my ancestors are Irish on my Grandfather's side. His father came to NZ last century. I have the temper and humour to prove it 🤫
Happy St Patrick's Day to you Sir. :sunflower:

My bottle of Jameson is right beside my coffee pot ready for morning.

lá sona St Patrick!
Bain taitneamh as do chaife.

Go maire cnoic na hÉireann tú.

Go mbeannaí a lochanna agus a haibhneacha duit.

Go maire ádh na nÉireannach tú.

Go bhfeicfidh beannachtaí Naomh Pádraig thú.

Go mbeadh obair ann i gcónaí do do lámha le déanamh,

Go sealbhaíonn do sparán bonn nó dhó i gcónaí.

Go maire an ghrian te i gcónaí ar do fhuinneog,

Go mbeadh tuar ceatha cinnte go leanfaidh sé gach báisteach.

Go mbeadh lámh cara in aice leat i gcónaí,

Agus go líonfadh Dia do chroí le lúcháir chun tú a ghríosú.

Go dtuga grá dóibh siúd a bhfuil grá againn dúinn.

Agus iad siúd nach bhfuil grá acu dúinn,

Go ndéana Dia a gcroí a chasadh.

Agus mura casann sé a gcroí,

Go maire sé a rúitíní,

Mar sin beidh aithne againn orthu agus iad ag lúbadh.

An chúis go mbíonn na Gaeil i gcónaí ag troid lena chéile

Nach bhfuil aon fhreasúra fiúntach eile acu.

Go maire tú chomh fada agus a theastaíonn uait,

Agus níor mhaith leat riamh chomh fada agus a mhaireann tú.

Go mbeadh do ghloine lán riamh.

Go mbeadh an díon os cionn do chinn láidir i gcónaí.

Agus b’fhéidir go mbeidh tú ar neamh leathuair an chloig sula mbeidh a fhios ag an diabhal go bhfuil tú marbh.

Seo chuig fear a dhéanann miongháire

Nuair a ritheann an saol ar aghaidh mar amhrán.

Agus seo chuig an lad atá in ann aoibh gháire a dhéanamh

Nuair a théann gach rud marbh mícheart.

Sean oideas Gaeilge ar fad saoil:

Fág ocras ar an mbord.

Fág an leaba codlatach.

Fág tart ar an mbarra.

May the Irish hills caress you.

May her lakes and rivers bless you.

May the luck of the Irish enfold you.

May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

May there always be work for your hands to do,

May your purse always hold a coin or two.

May the sun always shine warm on your windowpane,

May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.

May the hand of a friend always be near you,

And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

May those who love us love us.

And those that don't love us,

May God turn their hearts.

And if He doesn't turn their hearts,

May he turn their ankles,

So we'll know them by their limping.

The reason the Irish are always fighting each other

Is they have no other worthy opponents.

May you live as long as you want,

And never want as long as you live.

May your glass be ever full.

May the roof over your head be always strong.

And may you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

Here's to a fellow who smiles

When life runs along like a song.

And here's to the lad who can smile

When everything goes dead wrong.

An old Irish recipe for longevity:

Leave the table hungry.

Leave the bed sleepy.

Leave the bar thirsty.

Grabbers (2012)
Not Rated | 1h 34min | Action, Adventure, Comedy | 10 August 2012 (Ireland)
Stars: Killian Coyle, Stuart Graham, Michael Hough

Police officer Lisa Nolan comes to Aran Island, Ireland, to take charge during a colleague's two-week holiday. Simultaneously, blood-thirsty, sea-dwelling aliens arrive at the quiet island to propagate. As dead whales wash up on shore and people start mysteriously disappearing, officers and a few locals slowly discover their peril along with one sure defense - high blood alcohol levels, which the aliens can't stomach. As a storm approaches, enabling hungry hatchlings access to the locals, an open bar kicks off a desperate bid for survival as inebriated police and friends stagger to remain cognizant long enough to thwart the alien invasion.

14 Irish rock bands — that aren't U2
http://www.chicagotribune.com/redeye/redeye-14-irish-band-st-patricks-day-20150305-htmlstory.html

1. The Frames

Many know Glen Hansard for his role in the Oscar-winning film "Once," but the charismatic singer-songwriter has been active in the Irish music scene for the last 25 years as the frontman of The Frames. Perhaps Ireland's best live act, each of the group's six studio albums are unassailably solid. The band also has Chicago roots. Guitarist Rob Bochnik hails from the city. Not to mention, The Frames largely recorded its best album, "For The Birds," at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio Studios, on the Near North Side.
The Frames - Revelate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCyFMnhP_94

2. The Fatima Mansions

The Fatima Mansions was formed by ex-Microdisney frontman Cathal Coughlan, who had unbalanced but effective approach in writing aggressive, misanthropic and sometimes politically sharp lyrics. Though the band was only active from 1988-1995, it has six fairly solid albums to show for it. The Cork, Ireland-based group's highest charting effort is its 1989 debut "Against Nature."
Fatima Mansions Wilderness On Time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPlng6gd9Ps

3. The Cranberries

Sure everyone knows "Zombie," but The Cranberries are more than its stellar '90s singles suggest. Still active after forming in 1990, the Limerick, Ireland natives have maintained a solid career, and their last offering, 2012's "Roses," proved they have lots of good songs left in the tank. Though the band's 1993 debut album was titled, "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?," the effort was clearly unlike anything on the radio.
The Cranberries - Dreams (lyrics)

4. Thin Lizzy

The best Irish classic rock band and arguably one of the best classic rockers ever, Thin Lizzy broke barriers with its 1976 studio album "Jailbreak." While most people know the group for the ubiquitous single "The Boys Are Back In Town," the rest of Thin Lizzy's catalog is full of palatable, guitar-heavy bangers.
Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation | With Lyrics | Album Version|
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmLt5ubN3jg

5. Stiff Little Fingers

Belfast's Stiff Little Fingers is most certainly Ireland's best punk band. The group makes crunchy, anthemic singles that beg for raised fists and shouted choruses. Amazingly, the band is still kicking, albeit without the majority of its original line-up. And the songs sound potent even decades later. The Fingers' last offering was "No Going Back," a still solid studio album released in 2014 after a lengthy 11-year lull. Hopefully fans don't have to wait that long for the next one.

6. My Bloody Valentine
7. Bell XI
8. The Boomtown Rats
9. Villagers
10. Delorentos
11. The #1s
12. Them
13. The Undertones
14. Interference

Brigid, in pre-Christianity Ireland, was regarded as the Celtic goddess of healing, spring season, and even smithcraft. In the mythical narrative, she is the daughter of the Dagda and thus a member of the Tuatha Dé Danann.
