Topic: What's your view on social life? | |
---|---|
Definition of social life is the same everywhere but the interpretation in all countries is different.
Many countries dont wait for holidays and all to keep in touch with fam and people you grew up with around your area. For example, here we are very serious about social life. We value people since you cant live without them ( I am not saying others dont value people) We try to understand each other. We communicate frequently and continuously. And i have to say i really like that. It has given me a better understanding of people and a better understanding of different cultures that we have. Although i understand they have to differ from country to country, express your personal views on your country's social life |

What's your view on social life?
Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it? express your personal views on your country's social life
I don't care about my country's social life. I'm selfish. I only care about mine. |

In America I feel people are way to self absorbed to make time for family. Or maybe it's just the area I live.

I can't speak for the whole country. But me and mine the family and one's we consider family are close. We have Sunday dinner at my house every Sunday. We talk daily about everything. We don't just get together for holidays. You never know how long you have someone.

well they say get a life ... I have a life
I have fam and friends ... would be nice to find a male companion to go out with once and a while ... but not going to hold my breath waiting for that ... mean time ... doing the walk of life :>) |

So if I get it right you're saying you feel some only get in touch with family during holidays?
I'm in touch with family always. We don't always often see each other due to busy lives and/or living distance. People from the area I'm from, none. I moved from that area 40 years ago, I've moved house some 15x in life so I don't have roots anywhere anymore. On average how people socialize depends on age a lot. Many my age are basically always with their husbands, socialize with their husband, some maybe sometimes with a friend. I think for most with a friend will be during the day. |

I think if you look closely enough you are going to find that all countries have pretty much the same "social life"; family and friends sitting around eating and drinking, talking about family and friends or the days events, and maybe sharing some kind mutually enjoyed game or activity. The only difference would be in the games played and the food and drink shared.

Some of the problem in the US is the distances involved. I spend much more time with friends than family because friends are closer by in most cases. I try to see my daughter and family every couple weeks but it is 1 1/2 hour drive each way.

Money can be a factor for many family members seeing each other more |

So you have step fathers, step mother's, single parents, half brothers and sisters through a parent marrying several times.Etc It can get very complicated. Social life? It depends on a person's hobbies and commitment to a friendship or family. There is no 'one way' to socialize in New Zealand, there are many ways. |

I’ve seen people who surround themselves with people with money, talent, and influence.

I’ve seen people who surround themselves with people with money, talent, and influence. That feels like half a story? |

I’ve seen people who surround themselves with people with money, talent, and influence. That feels like half a story? The other half of the story is work. I think that is what you are asking. |
