Rep. Jerry Nadler: We're 'probably' not headed for impeachment, but Trump is making it 'increasingly difficult' to avoid

"After a quarter-century in Congress, Rep. Jerry Nadler of New York stands on the brink of an outsize role in American political life.

As Judiciary Committee chairman in the Democratic-controlled House, Nadler leads his party’s efforts to exercise oversight of President Donald Trump and his administration. If Democrats pursue the fourth serious presidential impeachment effort in American history, Nadler would wield the gavel when it starts".

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/15/jerry-nadler-probably-not-headed-for-impeachment-but-trump-makes-it-difficult-to-avoid.html

If Trump were a Democrat, the Republicans would be all over him. Bill Clinton, may as well say, got impeached over getting his knob polished and a stain on a dress. Trump has done 10 times worse and right out in the wide open. But he gets by anyway. I hate to say it, but it seems to be the truth at this point. This is where the Democrats show their weakness. That's the way it seems. But, everything is not always as it seems. We will see eventually I guess.

Democrats read Mueller report aloud in U.S. Capitol hearing room

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday held a marathon reading of the redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s 448-page assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election".

"The reading began at noon EDT (1700 GMT) and was expected to take 12 to 14 hours. For those who could not make it to the Capitol hearing room to listen, it was being broadcast on C-SPAN and lawmakers plan to release a podcast version.Representative Mary Gay Scanlon, one of the top Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, started the reading and nearly two dozen of her colleagues were to take part. Sen. Lindsey Graham advises Donald Trump Jr. to ignore Senate subpoena

"Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, says Donald Trump Jr. should ignore the subpoena issued to him by the Senate Intelligence Committee.

“If I were Donald Trump Jr.’s lawyer, I would tell him, ‘You don’t need to go back into this environment anymore,’” Graham said in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday. “‘You’ve been there for hours and hours and nothing being alleged here changes the outcome of the Mueller investigation.’ I would call it a day". "Last week, the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee subpoenaed Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, to answer more questions about his contacts with Russia. Trump Jr. is reportedly resisting the subpoena and may invoke his Fifth Amendment right to refuse to answer questions. "

Trump Jr. is reportedly resisting the subpoena and may invoke his Fifth Amendment right to refuse to answer questions”
Why is he concerned with self-incrimination? Didn’t daddy say that people who invoke the fifth amendment are guilty?

Good to know that a sitting senator is advising a private citizen to break the law. Obstruction of justice doesn't stop with Trump.

Trump proposes overhauling legal immigration

"The changes to the United States immigration system announced by President Trump on Thursday amount to a sweeping overhaul of the legal immigration process, intended to prioritize highly skilled workers over immigrants with family-based ties.

But the details of the plan the White House previewed, which have not yet been codified into a bill, were vague.

The proposal does not seek to change the number of green cards allocated each year (approximately 1.1 million) but rather the process by which they are granted and to whom.

The U.S. system offers four main pathways to obtaining legal permanent residency (green cards): family ties, employment, humanitarian protection and the diversity lottery".

Canada has an immigration system based on an individuals ability to contribute to the country. Seems to work very well for them. Might be worth a look?

Other countries have stricter immigration laws and they are based on merits. In fact, they even require you to show proof of your ability to support yourself financially, ask you how you plan to contribute to their society. I agree that the USA needed to overhaul the immigration system and have it merit-based.

Trump showing his idiocy once again.

Trump Administration to Ship Migrants to Broward and Palm Beach Counties UPDATED

"In a bizarre, cryptic announcement, Broward County Mayor Mark Bogen said this afternoon the Trump administration plans to begin shipping migrants from the U.S./Mexico border to Broward and Palm Beach Counties "on a weekly basis without designated shelters or funding to house them, feed them, and keep them safe."

Last month, the Washington Post reported Trump had been attempting to ship migrants and undocumented immigrants to so-called sanctuary cities to somehow punish those governments for not cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen reportedly quit her job rather than implement the policy".

"What Bogen describes sounds eerily similar to what the Post warned about last week. To be clear, there are no sanctuary cities in Florida, let alone the entirety of Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The Florida Legislature mere weeks ago passed a statewide ban on sanctuary cities — but Trump's stunt could be some sort of psychotic and inhumane attempt to punish two of the most liberal counties in Florida, a state he's desperately trying to win in the 2020 presidential race. "

Here in the UK, we are struggling with immigration issues as part of our Brexit problems. Personally I voted to leave the EU so we can make our own rules rather than being dictated to by anonymous people in Brussels. I am hoping we can implement something like Canada or Australia. Sadly the US democrats are against us leaving the EU while the trump machine is in favour of it!

Trump tells aides he does not want U.S. war with Iran

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has told his top advisers he does not want to get the United States involved in a war with Iran, three U.S. officials said on Thursday.

"He doesn't want to go to war. It's not who he is," one official said, speaking on condition of anonymity".

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-iran-trump/trump-tells-aides-he-does-not-want-us-war-with-iran-idUSKCN1SM22O

Well, then why did he withdraw the US from the Iran Nuclear Agreement when the UN and every other country in the world (except for the "state" of Israel of course) said it was working? And then why did he impose such heavy sanctions on the people of Iran? Sounds like he wants a war to me.

Trump's tariffs are equivalent to one of the largest tax increases in decades

"President Donald Trump, having championed one of the larger tax cuts in recent years, has now enacted tariffs equivalent to one of the largest tax increases in decades.

A CNBC analysis of data from the Treasury Department ranks the combined $72 billion in revenue from all the president’s tariffs as one of the biggest tax increases since 1993. In fact, the tariff revenue ranks as the largest increase as a percent of GDP since 1993 when compared with the first year of all the revenue measures enacted since then, according to the data".

Trump Smacks California by Canceling $929 Million Grant for the Bullet Train

"The Trump administration officially canceled $929 million in federal grants earmarked for California’s ambitious high-speed rail project, escalating tensions between the federal government and the most-populous U.S. state.

Federal Railroad Administrator Ronald Batory said in a letter Thursday to Brian Kelly, the chief executive officer of the state agency running the project, that California has failed to show progress and meet requirements under the agreements for the funds. Governor Gavin Newsom, through a spokesman, vowed a court fight.

“It is now clear that California has no foreseeable plans, nor the capability, to pursue that statewide HSR System as originally proposed,” Batory wrote".

Trump sending ‘500 migrants a month’ to Florida Democratic strongholds

"TALLAHASSEE — President Donald Trump‘s plans to send potentially hundreds of undocumented immigrants each month to the Democratic strongholds of Broward and Palm Beach counties ignited a torrent of criticism from local Florida officials who called the move political".

Trump has to be the biggest idiot to ever walk on two feet. I wonder if he actually thinks that he is punishing these states by doing these idiotic things. We already know that California will vote Democrat. That's what they do. For Trump to win in 2020, he has to have Florida. Without Florida, he will lose. And the way he's going about it, He either really doesn't want to be re-elected. Or, he is such a narcissist that he believes that he will carry Florida anyway. They will bend to he wants.

They will beg him for relief. What's gonna happen, I believe they will get to Florida and will eventually start to scatter around other states. They will leave Florida if they have to walk. But, it will still put such a strain on Florida and surrounding states, piss off a lot of people. And because of this red will turn blue come 2020.

'TREASON!': Trump says his campaign was spied on. Current and former FBI officials disagree.

"President Trump on Friday claimed his campaign was “conclusively spied on” and suggested those responsible should be prosecuted for treason and sent to prison as Attorney General William Barr continued to defend his probe of the origins of the Russia investigation.

“My Campaign for President was conclusively spied on,” Trump tweeted. “Nothing like this has ever happened in American Politics. A really bad situation. TREASON means long jail sentences, and this was TREASON". Trump has long claimed the FBI spied on his campaign and that the federal investigation into his campaign’s contacts with Russia was part of an “attempted coup” against him.

But there is no evidence of any coup, critics say. And there is debate over whether the term “spying” should be used to describe court-approved surveillance or a lawful counterintelligence investigation.

Trump Administration Defies Tax Return Subpoena

"WASHINGTON ― Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said Friday that the administration will not comply with a subpoena for copies of President Donald Trump’s tax returns, setting up yet another legal showdown with Democrats.

Democrats’ request “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose” and the Treasury Department is, therefore “not authorized” to hand over the documents, Mnuchin said in a letter to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal (D-Mass.)".

http://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/trump-administration-defies-tax-return-200516660.html

If this was a Democrat, they would have already fined him and or locked him up. A Democrat couldn't get away with this.

At the same time Barr's DoJ is locking up Chelsea Manning for defying a subpoena, they're standing behind Barr & Mnuchin for refusing to comply with subpoenas. Guess what, guys...the law doesn't specify Congress needs a "legitimate legislative purpose" to request & receive anyone's tax returns. It says flat out that they can request them & the IRS *shall* comply with that request. Not to mention that Congress has the very legitimate Constitutional purpose of investigating conflicts of interest of the President as well as the effectiveness of Presidential audits.

Trump has decided that it's less dangerous to him to withhold his tax returns than to release them. He's obviously hiding a lot.

Democrats Issue Subpoenas For Donald Trump’s Tax Returns

"The Trump administration is defying a federal law that is supposed to give Congress access to private tax information". "democrats on Friday issued subpoenas for President Donald Trump’s tax returns after the Trump administration said it would not comply with a formal legal request for the documents this week.

Treasury, IRS set to miss Trump tax return subpoena deadline | Bolton-Pompeo relationship strained over Iran

"Democrats are examining options for their next steps, the Hill says. But both sides agree the matter is headed to the courts. House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal issued subpoenas to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig last week for six years of Trump’s personal and business tax returns, giving them a deadline of 5 p.m. Friday. But all indications are that Treasury and the IRS won’t provide the requested documents. A court case could be lengthy, the Hill writes, adding that legal experts say it could be effective in achieving Democrats’ goal of obtaining Trump’s returns".

Trump administration prepares to release Central American migrants 'across the entire nation'

"The Trump administration is preparing to send Central American migrants caught along the southern border to Border Patrol stations "across the entire nation," according to a senior Border Patrol official who confirmed the plans Friday.

With more than 4,500 people being caught each day crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, the agency has run out of the room at its Border Patrol facilities in the four border states. The agency has started looking at its facilities around the country, which are mostly along the northern border with Canada and coastal states.

That means states from Oregon to North Dakota to Maine may begin receiving planeloads of migrant families in the weeks to come. On Tuesday, Customs and Border Protection sent its first plane full of migrants from Texas to San Diego.

The official confirmed reports on Thursday that the Florida counties of Broward and Palm Beach are under consideration given the size and capabilities of Border Patrol stations in the South Florida region. But he did not say if the decision is final or when the flights would start".

Just a thought.

Since Trump seems to be just bursting at the seams to start a war with Iran. Why not start a war with Central America instead? Nobody wants war. But it seems to me that starting a war with Central America makes better sense. Our problem is not with the people that are fleeing oppression from dictators. Which Central America has always been known to be.

It seems to me that we wouldn't be having this trouble with all the migrants if the oppression was dealt with. Instead of Trump trying to pick a fight with Iran and sending thousands of our soldiers over there, Shut up about Iran for a little while and set his sights on what's causing a huge problem here at home. Get rid of the Central American oppressors and start them a new government like we did Japan years ago. Our border troubles would end in just a short time. These people wouldn't want to come here and stay.

Then they would eventually have jobs and homes there. The country would belong to the USA then. Then Trump would be a hero. Bring jobs into Central America. He could build a Tower there and call it, "Trump Central". He could potentially put thousands of hungry migrants to work. Once we took over the country, put a couple of military bases there. The next thing you know free enterprise will start. The money will start flowing. Sounds good to me. Then there would be no use for a border wall. That's trillions saved. Much of the money spent on housing and food/ medical for them here, no use for it. End of that problem. And those millions of dollars that migrants actually wind up paying into our government?

Trump could make himself look like a savior to these people. He would be a shoo-in for re-election because he fixed something other Republican's and Democrats never could. To those people, he would damn near be a God.

Latin American Dictators

"Latin America has traditionally been home to dictators: charismatic men who have seized almost complete control over their nations and held it for years, even decades. Some have been fairly benign, some cruel and violent, and others merely peculiar. Here are some of the more noteworthy men who have held dictatorial powers in their home nations".

U.S. support for brutal Central American dictators led to today’s border crisis

"Too many shocked Americans, the separation of families at the U.S.-Mexico border is simply a breakdown of everything America stands for. To me, it is even more.

To me, it is a foreign policy issue — a question of the deepest possible blunders in American strategy that demands serious, not sentimental, response".

"WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's declaration of a national emergency to divert billions of dollars from the Pentagon for a border wall faced its first courtroom test on Friday.
