The house democrat's are refusing to end this shut down. I wonder if they would be so hard nosed if their pay and benefits stopped in the event of a government shut down? Congress is way to isolated from the effects of the decisions they make.

If anything, they should HAVE to sign a bill in a certain period, and be forced to continue negotiating from there. Holding Americans hostage should not be an acceptable way to force what you want into a budget. Sign based on what has been agreed to. continue negotiating and compromising on what is not. plain and simple. Can you imagined, if after Obama said you can keep your doctor, upon finding out that was not the case for everyone, if democrats would shut the government down to wait for republicans to MAKE doctors keep their patients ... its time to take the loss on the wall, get the government running, and continue negotiating and finding better solutions that can be agreed to. and yeah. Im for a total freeze on ALL ASSETS of EVERYONE from President down, until they are back to doing their JOB and keeping government running, let them feel the real pinch they are all too happy to be putting others through.

So very true and many have forgotten their roots and what it is like to live a normal life with a real job. To actually have to get up in the morning and go to work so they can get a paycheck next Friday. Maybe they should intern for a couple months each year just to realize that there still is a real world that most of us live in!!!

After day 22 of the partial government shutdown the democrats are still playing the game of resist and deny. This is a tactic that is better suited for squabbling children or rival gangs. Not for the U.S.Congress. Why were the democrats all in on a barrier three years ago . Nothing has changed on the border with the exception of it being worse. But now it's all about Trump. Three reasons this is happening, #1 they don't want Trump to accomplish another campaign promise, ( so many so far) which explains why his base is still about 96% support. #2 they want to bring in foreigners and provide for them to win their votes. #3 they want the country to suffer a set back of some kind so they can blame Trump and he might lose the 2020 election. The way it looks now , Trump wins. not quite. There is already money for the 'barrier' that hasnt even been used yet. The ADDITIONAL money is a TRUMP ploy too look for a 'win' by holding the budget ransom instead of by negotiating like he allegedly is so wonderful at ... nothing is 'worse' at the border. no one with sense cares about Trump and his empty boasts and promises, which included a wall at the expense of MEXICO, not American taxpayers and certainly not at the ransom of american paychecks no one is deciding on the wall for 'votes' from illegal immigrants no one is rooting for any 'setback' just to blame stupid Trump the way it looks now. with Trump supporters, he wins even if he murders someone in central park, that was ONE truth he has told. that sounds identical to the daily rant from the left. So what if he said Mexico will pay for it, it's a minuscule amount compared to the amount that all those immigrants on the border now and the thousands more headed this way. Not many empty promises from Trump he's doing most things he said he would do, far more than the " stupid" Obama . So you think almost 50 % of your fellow citizens are senseless . Well who the hell are you to say your opinion is worthy and those who think we need border security is non worthy. Very shallow thinking.. I don't think Trump has murdered anyone but not so sure about Hillary's past w/ white water.

The last bill the Senate passed to reopen the government, the House democrats turned down. McConnell has no intention of getting in the middle of the pissing contest between Pelosi and Trump - smart man!!

All I know is that Pelosi and other Dems spent a week in Hawaii and then ended up in Puerto Rico partying instead of being in DC to negotiate. THEN they decided to use a military jet on our dollar to take them to Brussels, Egypt and finally to see the troops in Afghanistan. They have BUSINESS to conduct here in the US of A. Thankfully Trump put a stop to that. It was stated very nicely and sweetly in his letter to Nancy. And if she wants to book commercial flights, then do so. All I really care about is that "we" don't vote for Socialism. I do not want to live in a country like Venzuela or Cuba or Russia ...... do NOT vote to lose our paychecks, our rights, have electricity for a few hours per day, etc. etc. People do NOT understand what socialism truly is, especially our college age kids. and yes, Russia IS a socialist country. Communist first, but in reality its socialist.

I havent seen their plane tickets, so I wouldnt know. I do know Puerto Rico is a US territory which was destroyed by a hurricane not long ago, probably not a 'party town'. When those who were hard working, productive people start seeing their future worse off, they tend to not work as hard. The end result is an economy that fails. Funny thing about socialist governments, most of those in the government do not make any of the sacrifices that the masses do.

Some of these posts here really sound a bit like a person's worth is only based on their intelligence, wallet/ bank account... Sounds a bit like the beliefs in Nazi Garmany, about getting rid of "undesireables"..those who they viewed as "less than"..however one chooses to define that. Scary. Yet I bet these same people view abortion is wrong, because it is a human life and...as such, is valuable and worthy of protection. FWIW...my dad's parents were country club people, my grandfather worked for BB & T bank. My dad started his own business (printing) in the early 70's... His parent peobably voted a straight Republican ticket... My dad? He voted Democratic, and we had several converesations about who he was douing better under... I remmeber him saying he hoped thing improved under Clinton (back in 1992), because they were sucking petty bad business-wise when Bush was in office (for him and his associates anyway.. He was involved in many organizations (as a way to get business contacts), so, I'm sure he knew what he was talking about. MY opinions and feeling come from my own observation and research, knowing people from all walks of life and various countries (my mom was an immigrant from Germany, wasn't a citizen until several yeas after comibng here with my dad).. I observe the human condition, and am ~all for~ whatever makes life better for the most people... Not for an elite group of white people who can look down on the poor and POC and disabled as "less than"... Jesus said "whatever you do unto the least of these..." And many other things.. Plus, he had no love for the rich, elite rulers.....something most Republicans who claim to be "Chjristain" evidently forget. I bet your parents did not sneak in to this country illegally , and that is the sticking point to this crisis. Why should people be allowed to sneak in ahead of people trying to come here the right way. Some people are just so bent out of shape because Trump won and is still winning despite the resistance coming from the left that is deviding this country like never before. It's not fair for taxpayers to fund the non-sense or the fiasco going on at the border. The only impeachment talk should be against Nancy Pelosi for dereliction of duty. She is one disturbed and deminted old bag that doesn't understand that border security isn't her call. She is there to do what's best for our country .She works for us but she acts like it's all about her.
