Plenty of people are choosing welfare over work. Those women at Honda did and had more babies to increase benefits. The one in section 8 housing had her 3rd for tax payers to support. the women at HONDA are a percent of a percent of a percent of a percent .... of people on Welfare. I just explained how section 8, medicaid, foodstamps, utility assistance, wic, cash payments can easily equal a middle class income. We've had another poster explain how a woman he dated welfared enough to pay cash for a car. When I was in my 20's I had a friend who worked at the welfare office tell me I should quit my job because I could get everything i was working for free, if I quit my job. Who would no better than a person who is giving it out. If they are unmarried, no job, kids already on welfare and having more, they are definitely doing it for welfare. yes. and someone on ALL Those programs could, but COULD and DO are different things. AS MOST are not receiving ALL those programs. and when you cut out the housing, the benefits dont come CLOSE to middle class. Im sorry you seemed to know or associate with so many low lives, but it takes research outside of your personal experiences to get the truth to the claim of people having more than middle class: According to the survey, the national median household income rose to $59,039 — an increase of 3.2% from the previous year and the American middle class' highest income level to date, beating the previous record of $58,655 in 1999 (all numbers are adjusted for inflation) http://www.businessinsider.com/middle-class-income-us-state-2017-9 If you someone who receives aLL The benefits depending on which state, that can range from 11 to 60 thousand dollars(in state of Hawaii, where cost of living and wages are higher) all other states fall below the middle class threshold ... http://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/pdf/the_work_versus_welfare_trade-off_2013_wp.pdf So you just proved me right..... if thats how you see it, if 1 out of 50 states is 'proof' of whats wrong with ALL of welfare ....lol |

What is and has been going in Chicago is complete unbridled insanity. Period. As long as the family unit is dysfunctional and abuse, addiction, lack of education and joblessness continues so will the blood shed. There will be no hope for Chicago or any other major city if the above continues. The body count will rise as well as destruction and depression. thank you Elijah, for bringing it back to topic, lets hope we can stay here abuse, addiction, education, and joblessness will not fare well for any major city. and lets not forget concentrated poverty, worn down and torn down and empty buildings and lots, inferior access to resources which are also combined into a recipe for increased hopelessness and violence. |

Doesn't matter what deal the hospitals make with the government at the end of the day the recipient who has government coverage DOES NOT go into their pocket for hospital costs. Whereas, people who have private coverage....do So we pay for the delivery thru private coverage monthly costs and deductibles and they pay.... nothing.. we pay for their children to be delivered too. that's it, period. Now I remember very clearly that I paid my private coverage deductible and affiliated costs when both of my sons were born, it cost me a few $1,000 each time, not including the monthly premiums. Didn't you have to pay these deductibles as well, MS. When your kids were born? it does matter if one is arguing about the money they get COMPARED to middle class, the medicaid money they 'get' is money they only 'get' if and when they are provided a service. and if the medical industry is double screwing you by using your taxes AND your insurance money, seems like the beef should be with THEM. The first time my husband was military and it was covered through our insurance. I did not review my husbands checks for what was taken out. The second time I was working in the timeshare industry and my insurance from work covered it, I paid about 200 a month, so it ran me about 1800. you got family health coverage thru work for $200.00 a month?. Doesn't matter how you spin it because: we go into our wallet or purse to pay for these services...they do not..... period. we pay monthly premiums... they don't we pay deductibles... they don't when I took my wife home from the hospital each time.. I got a bill When they leave the hospital... they don't get a bill And that's about as clear as it gets. |

Not that it matters because some would never understand the concept but
My first son was born when as 18. I worked my day job then quickly threw on a pair of work overalls and pumped gas until 9:30PM 5 day a week.( in Jersey you can't pump your own gas). I did this for 3 years and the money made from the night job paid for the stuff like formula, pampers, and my sons regular doctor bills. I worked both jobs, left at 6:30AM got home at 10:00PM. My wife did side jobs whenever she could. It was a terrible job, I hated it. One night some guys driving by threw a plastic cup of soda at me.. hit me in the chest. It was demoralizing. But I continued to work there because jobs were tight, I was young and had little experience and it was a recession But most of all because my son needed that stuff and he was MY responsibility. This is what 10's of millions of other mother and fathers also did. |

You continue to leave out medical care as a benefit. $800 a month in foodstamps is $9600. Food stamps and housing is $21,600. All 3, 31,600. Not including WIC and help with utilities or a cash check. I googled and median household income for Ga is $71,420. |

Not a working person in the country who has ever received welfare would go back to it. it sucks. its total dependence on people that constantly judge and try to micromanage every aspect of your existence, which has minimal basic needs and next to no semblance of basic human dignity and/or respect. Wages, make it so working people do not live as well as they should, but many of them would rather blame it on those who have it even worse than they do instead of questioning or blaming those who are truly profiting and benefitting and having it 'better'. |

Plenty of people are choosing welfare over work. Those women at Honda did and had more babies to increase benefits. The one in section 8 housing had her 3rd for tax payers to support. the women at HONDA are a percent of a percent of a percent of a percent .... of people on Welfare. Expand your knowledge and read. The women at Honda were just beginning their welfare careers. One baby on welfare should be enough to close their legs. But you guessed it, they quit work to have baby #2 and #3. That was a couple years ago. I'm sure the families have grown more. |

Define raise: yes I was working 16 hours a day and my wife was home with our son. I made the money ,she was with our son, she paid the bills, cooked, took care of the baby, made all the doctor arraignments, cleaned, she took care of me as well, ect, ect, ect. On the weekends we did family things.. the park , the zoo, shopping or just time at home And while I was working the 2 jobs I was concentrating on bettering myself at my first job.. which I did, working up the ladder and getting paid more money. Then when financially I could, I dropped the second job. My son was 3 1/2 by then And if working 16 hours a day and missing some of the early upbringing is needed... then you do it. As opposed to staying home, your kid not having what he or she needs and having other people finance your family That is how I define raise. And please don't tell me a lot of these women do not know the caliper of the man she is about to have unprotected sex with. Many of these guys have already fathered kids.. and they know that too. It is a small world in some areas.. a very small world. |

I'm sure the families have grown more. lol, quit work for welfare ... okay. I see this is hopeless, believe what you want based on those three women you 'knew'. |

Not that it matters because some would never understand the concept but My first son was born when as 18. This is what 10's of millions of other mother and fathers also did. your son had a mother and father around ... two potential sources of income, and two potential sets of supervision single parents doing it on their own, dont have it so fortunate ... Kudos to you and ALL parents who care about their kids 'needs', which Im sure most do regardless of financial or employment status. that is because we were taught personal responsibility. And in " my world" you create a baby... you raise that kid. You don't and you are going to hear it.. everyday, from your family, your relatives. and then her family and her relatives. You would be a disgrace to your family until you do " the right thing" Especially your father and grandfathers.. they are going to make sure you " do the right thing".. but then again.. they are in your life to begin with. personal responsibility something that escapes baby daddies and something maybe the woman should think about... before they bed down with a guy...Hmmm define 'raise' ... being gone 16 hours a day and giving them the leftover time and energy when you arent asleep? like I said, paying the bills is not the ONLY responsibility parents have or feel an obligation to tend to ... and personal responsibility, with kids, is a two way street, there are TWO parents, when both are responsible it works fine, when that two becomes one or any other of lifes set backs happen, people need help. responsibility does escape alot of men, but its usually not something they are forthcoming about before they 'bed' down with a woman. It is a small world in some areas.. a very small world. no. I wont. you all are experts on everyone else's intents, experiences, and mindsets. Still doesnt change the huge difference between handling parenting responsibilities between TWO people and trying to do it all with only one. |

Im sorry you seemed to know or associate with so many low lives, but it takes research outside of your personal experiences to get the truth to the claim of people having more than middle class: According to the survey, the national median household income rose to $59,039 — an increase of 3.2% from the previous year and the American middle class' highest income level to date, beating the previous record of $58,655 in 1999 (all numbers are adjusted for inflation) http://www.businessinsider.com/middle-class-income-us-state-2017-9 If you someone who receives aLL The benefits depending on which state, that can range from 11 to 60 thousand dollars(in state of Hawaii, where cost of living and wages are higher) all other states fall below the middle class threshold ... http://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/pdf/the_work_versus_welfare_trade-off_2013_wp.pdf So you just proved me right..... if thats how you see it, if 1 out of 50 states is 'proof' of whats wrong with ALL of welfare ....lol My numbers were based on Ga. Those welfare queens are living well....until the over breaks and the kids start turning 18. Then they start the journey of applying for a disability check. It's In the U.S. Census Bureau's just-released 2013 American Community Survey, Georgia had a median household income of $47,829 the full package of benefits in georgia, is a whopping 19,797 Section 8 housing is paying $1000 and up for shelter. That's $12,000 a year alone. That woman had another baby. Medical cost 14 years ago was $10,000 to have a baby. So far we are at $24,000 without foodstamps, WIC, or help with utilities. You continue to leave out medical care as a benefit. $800 a month in foodstamps is $9600. Food stamps and housing is $21,600. All 3, 31,600. Not including WIC and help with utilities or a cash check. I googled and median household income for Ha is $71,420. ??? $800 a month in food stamps? for 3 kids maybe. And that is still less than 1.65 per meal, so ...? the document I linked has the information on all states which INCLUDES housing AND medicaid. The information you gave was from 2013. The debate isn't about how much per meal. The point is people on welfare are living better than working people. They get the same income minus having to buy gas to go to work and spending all day working. do you think its much different in five years? really? and no, welfare is not 'living better' than working. Taxes make it where working people can't afford to live as well. If living on welfare was so terrible, these women would stop having additional babies as an excuse to sit home. |

If living on welfare was so terrible, these women would stop having additional babies as an excuse to sit home. what, the THREE whole women you knew? and they told you they got pregnant so they could 'sit home' have you raised kids, really? How much sitting does a mom do with newborns and toddlers exactly, especially if she is on her own and if they have to stretch what they have to feed them or worry about where they can afford to live? if living on welfare was so great, people would be leaving their jobs to go at it. but few who gripe about how 'good' they have it on welfare would ever CONSIDER having to live with that type of scarcity and dependence. I had 2,000 a month after taxes, 800 rent 300 for the used car/insurance 300 for food 400 for utilities no cable only internet and a cell another 100 and what was the difference in fuel to and from work I could 'afford to live'. |
