I'd buy a remote island.
Immediately declare myself King.
Then I'd immediately ban patchouli
from my island.

A micronation.

Mr Bates did that in the 60s with an abandoned platform in the North-Sea a few miles away from Great-Brittain. He named the platform “ Kingdom Of Sealand “ and named himself and his wife King and Queen.
The platform was a pirate radio station first, before he got the idea to name it his kingdom.
His son is the new king now. They have their own currency and they give out passports to people who want to be residents of Sealand. A team of business tried to conquer his kingdom but he was able to conquer it back and he kept one of the businessmen as a prisoner. He made him his butler. A few days later he pardoned him.

You could maybe buy an abandoned platform somewhere?

Johnny Depp has his own island as well. And he is in massive debt.

Good choice, you would like it here, avoid Saskatchewan, Manitoba particularly in the winter .

I haven't decided yet. Right now I'm somewhat transient, I'm doing seasonal work/travel for the next couple years. I'm hoping to also visit a couple countries and hopefully Hawaii.

So far through my travels, I've learned that I like warmer climates, or dryer climates where it's cold as well. I love the mountains and love being near water. Finding a place that has those elements would be ideal.

In the USA I can live anywhere I want but I am currently living where I want and will till I don't want to anymore.

If you could afford it

There is a difference between being able to afford it and thriving.

If we're talking pipe-dreaming...

I would build a self-sufficient living complex on a continental coastline of Antarctica. Along with the greenhouses and warehouses It would have its own airstrip and a fleet of passenger and cargo planes and at least two long range helicopters. There would also be at least one heavy lift hovercraft. Additionally multiple 10,000 gallon or larger fuel reserves, a solar array, a geothermal plant and at least three high capacity windmills. I would have a cargo port and a fishing port with tunnel and surface access. I would own at least two cargo ships, one survival yacht and a multitude of special purpose watercraft. I would also have a fleet of winter terrain vehicles all equipped with rescue and survival gear.
I would employ 180-200 full time staff, all with their own luxury quarters, including security and another 50-75 seasonal staff. I would have at least 100 head of cattle, a few hundred chickens, a hundred or so pigs and environmental support for them. It would have a staffed and fully-equipped medical, dental and veterinarian facility.
It would have an extensive virtual library free to everyone at all times.
At least 3 high speed internet dishes, its own radio and television station and a network of Ham, CB and high frequency receiver/transmitters.
My residence would be fully automated with manual backups.

I would provide rescue and support for all the ICE teams of scientists conducting research on the continent. I would also provide them with recreational facilities, communication services and transport.
My facility would be set as neutral ground with no affiliation to any country, religion or political party. I would have at least one method of military deterrence which may or may not include nuclear.

Additionally, so above as below.
I would have subterranean facilities which support the complex in isolation if the need arises.
There would be a maintained seed bank, genetic repository and the facilities to activate them.

Well, you asked...
