In the USA I can live anywhere I want but I am currently living where I want and will till I don't want to anymore.

If you could afford it

There is a difference between being able to afford it and thriving.

If we're talking pipe-dreaming...

I would build a self-sufficient living complex on a continental coastline of Antarctica. Along with the greenhouses and warehouses It would have its own airstrip and a fleet of passenger and cargo planes and at least two long range helicopters. There would also be at least one heavy lift hovercraft. Additionally multiple 10,000 gallon or larger fuel reserves, a solar array, a geothermal plant and at least three high capacity windmills. I would have a cargo port and a fishing port with tunnel and surface access. I would own at least two cargo ships, one survival yacht and a multitude of special purpose watercraft. I would also have a fleet of winter terrain vehicles all equipped with rescue and survival gear.
I would employ 180-200 full time staff, all with their own luxury quarters, including security and another 50-75 seasonal staff. I would have at least 100 head of cattle, a few hundred chickens, a hundred or so pigs and environmental support for them. It would have a staffed and fully-equipped medical, dental and veterinarian facility.
It would have an extensive virtual library free to everyone at all times.
At least 3 high speed internet dishes, its own radio and television station and a network of Ham, CB and high frequency receiver/transmitters.
My residence would be fully automated with manual backups.

I would provide rescue and support for all the ICE teams of scientists conducting research on the continent. I would also provide them with recreational facilities, communication services and transport.
My facility would be set as neutral ground with no affiliation to any country, religion or political party. I would have at least one method of military deterrence which may or may not include nuclear.

Additionally, so above as below.
I would have subterranean facilities which support the complex in isolation if the need arises.
There would be a maintained seed bank, genetic repository and the facilities to activate them.

Well, you asked...

Very cool... Being a seasonal worker, I'd love to work at that kind of place for a season.

Is the climate in Antarctica dry?

It used to always be Australia, but now I don't want to move that far away from my kids anymore.
I'd sure as hell would consider England, but I think I would keep main residence in my own country, in another province though, and get a 2nd/holiday home in England. Somerset love  love
Could be that I'd end up spending most of my time in England after all, hihi.
Me LOVES England

Just thinking of that, a house in Somerset makes me feel happy! I think I'm going to fall asleep with a big smile on my face in a minute

When I was a teenager I always wanted to go to and live in Australia, haha.

I'm hoping to visit Europe in a few months, seeing the castles in England would be lovely.

Is the climate in Antarctica dry?

Antarctica is the biggest desert in the world.

Despite its thick ice, Antarctica is classified as a desert because so little moisture falls from the sky. The inner regions of the continent receive an average of 2 inches (50 millimeters) of precipitation ā€” primarily in the form of snow ā€” each year. More rain falls in the Sahara desert.

Early in my military career I was offered a place on a Seabee Team to "Winter Over" on Antarctica. I declined but often kicked myself. A missed life experience because I was short-sighted.

There are and I have followed Antarctic expedition blogs that describe life on the ICE. Some very interesting reading and oh, what an experience that must be.

Looks absolutely beautiful there. I'll have to look into the possibility of seasonal work there. There's a company in Alaska that I think goes there on expedition, I can't remember, I'll have to look it up.

I don't think there are tourist facilities on Antarctica.
Options are:
BUENOS AIRES ā€“ THE LEGADO MITICO
SANTIAGO ā€“ THE SINGULAR SANTIAG
PUNTA ARENAS ā€“ CABO DE HORNOS
USHUAIA - LOS CAUQUENES RESORT & SP
OTTAWA ā€“ ARC HOTEL
OSLO ā€“ THE THIEF HOTEL
LONGYEARBYEN, SPISTBERGEN ā€“ RADISSON BLU

They offer excursions to the continent.

Okay, thanks Tom. I think that's what it was. I just checked Coolworks, it's a company called Work Artic. They take you on excursions to see the Polar Bears, but in the Artic Circle. They have a base camp in a few places where you work, and the campers come for fishing and the tour excursions. Pretty cool opportunity. I didn't qualify because I had to be smoke free for a year and had only just quit.

I have been thinking about moving to either the Dominican Republic ,or Belize, when I retire in a few years.

I know, and have talked to several people who have done it.
they are extremely friendly to American expatriates, and you can live like a king down there for very little money.

the worst part about it would be the lack of major department stores, and having to import a lot of your goods, such as electronics, and vehicles in from the U.S.[and having to pay the taxes/tariffs on them],but most people that live there just drive motorcycles/scooters,and Amazon DOES delver down there,so....

it is something that I have been seriously thinking about.

I would stay in the states but I'd maybe move to another place where the weather has no extremes.

My mind is ever changing but today Iā€™m thinking somewhere cold like Antarctica or Alaska

I thought about this for a few years. I wouldn't live in a coastal state, In the southeast, too many hurricanes. I can't live with that. Southern states get TOO hot. Midwest gets a lot of hurricanes. West coast is really expensive in California, anyway and many fires going on. North gets a lot of snow, cold such as Maine and Minnesota - not for me.

Meant to say, midwest gets a lot of tornadoes. Some are really bad. As far as Idaho goes, there is nothing real extreme. No hurricanes. Rare mini tornadoes. Some snow storms depending where you live, as well as very cold weather. I think it's good for me to stay here. It's expected that a big earthquake could hit here soon.

once I get around to retiring

Plan A, Hawaii ( Maui or one of the islands) in the winter and Victoria BC. in the summer.

Plan B...Cayman Islands.
