I in 10 , children are born premature to young women in their teens and women over 35 who have Heath issues like high BP , obesity,, diabetes.
This was on local news tonigh, news channel 20 tv.

I thought , well here is another expense tax payers contribute to. If the mom is on welfare, single and the dad has skipped to the Lou !!!

sad2

I am for legitimate people in need. I do help out in some things myself like charities.

laugh whatevs ... Im done.

first time I have seen you quit ms harmony .laugh laugh laugh now who will be the voice of welfare

even ms harmony gets tired of dealing with jerks sometimes ...

and believes even 'welfare' recipients are people who count and should have a voice, as opposed to merely being beholden like property to tax payers.

and now, Im done ...

My dad died when I was 11, where were your parents when you were struggling?

You are only 2 years older than I am, so we have lived through the same economy. A job with overtime was usually not that hard to find. (I live in the middle of nowhere and I don't even have internet service here and I on a well)

I have 3 kids and you only have 2. I've been a grandmother for 10 years. So I know what's it's like to help when my child is struggling. It's been both babysitting and financial.

I bet the differences in our lives have been priorities. If people can't manage their own lives, why should they be managing govt funds?

Thinking going on a cruise while on welfare is normal, doesn't make since to people who've worked and done without to make ends meet. It's hard for me to believe someone who was on welfare for a short time thinks this way.

I think putting the shoe on the other foot would be the best solution. I would have liked to see April work 60 hours a week then make beans and rice for supper because that's all that was left in the budget.

I've had friends work more hours than that and can't afford to go to the Dr like someone sitting around trying to get pregnant again with unlimited healthcare.

If we are sharing life stories, my mom was account manager at the USPS And my dad was an electrical engineer. they also taught me a work ethic.

but the economy didnt always care what they taught me and there were times during parenthood when I needed help getting through.

I didnt change my lifestyle to anything more than I had when I wasnt struggling, or anything less, the help was TEMPORARY until resources returned to continue maintaining our life.

Did your parents not teach you how to get a mortgage or to save an emergency fund?

Bingo... no one here has or would ever deprive a fellow human being a hand in getting back on their feet.. nobody. That is what the system was designed to do. Nobody here would deprive a child.. nobody

This is all about those would set out to go on welfare.. to ride the backs of hardworking taxpayer. It has become their way of life and it is a HUGE problem. partly because they learned it from prior generations. and that is a huge problem too.

One thing that I feel should be done if for the authorities to vigorously go after these baby daddy's and force them to pay for what they created. to reimburse the system.

They are no different then deadbeat dads... they just never married the woman and many times they are on to the next.

You can't think that way. It will only make it harder to eventually put them on the trains.

how about everyone stop whinging about the choices they made not being the choices EVERYONE make ..
how bout dah?
yeah, fraud and abuse are problems, so is the insistence by some that there should be a restricted list on items that people on assistance can enjoy or be in possession of.

Because if you can afford those items you shouldn't need constant assistance.
If you need constant assistance you shouldn't have those items because you are surviving on charity.
You are NOT 'threadbare' which is why help is provided.
When you are no longer 'threadbare' you no longer need help.
To ignore that understanding is unreasonable.
To ignore the examples around us is delusional.

The problem with fraud exists.
Its not being fixed.
As long as it continues there will be conflict over it.
Ignoring the problem is not going to make it go away.

Exactly!!!

I knew a retired Marine, who told me he had to fight for his disability benefits and it took 5 yrs. He was shot down out of a helicopter. He had other problems as well. I dated for a short time. Nice man.

Seems to me Veterans and disabled people should be first in line for any government assistance. Not lazy people milking the system.

They sent my son home from fort bliss having seizures so hard his arms were popping out of place. He applied for Medicaid and foodstamps. He received 0. Imagine how I felt a few short years later when that single black man without kids was selling his foodstamps and bragging about selling a house he inherited and living for 7 years off the money.

I have a messed up leg from my military service.
I worked a full career with it, never looking for a benefit.
I pay a co-pay now for my VA healthcare.
I have the records to get my leg service connected.
The reason I don't do that is because I worked with this leg nearly all my adult life. It didn't hamper my abilities at all.
Just because I am disabled now doesn't mean I need to suddenly be paid for it.
Yes, I could work the system.
I didn't need it then and I don't need it now.

Just because I can get assistance doesn't mean I want it.

Some people have the idea that if they can get it, they should get it, even if they don't NEED it.

I was referring to starting to believe that even 'welfare' recipients are people who count.

As you people learned from Nazi Germany, the trains and camps are self sustaining.

What you don't kill, becomes slave labor.

whoa people living on the government fraudulently need a Job.

Thing is they usually have a job.
They take low-paying jobs to 'appear' to be trying.
Anyone with a brain knows that fast food servers and car wash attendants are not meant to support a family.
Yet, because they are 'working' their benefits don't get cut-off.
They are "trying" in the eyes of the system.
Then there are the ones making good money...off the books.
I've seen people take their welfare money and food stamps to buy a pound of weed and resell it for a profit, a substantial profit.
They act depressed or stressed out to get a Rx for certain drugs and resell those for a profit.
They use their Obama Phone to set up a gun deal on credit and sell that load for a profit usually from the trunk of their car (that they claim to need to hunt for a job).
Anyone that thinks this is not happening is delusional.

Federal government is cutting food stamps for many individuals and families now, problem is they don't investigate more closely who's really in need.
That's when ligitimate people suffer in losing out.

People has been Known to bye a house on low income program. Move out and rent the house to someone and earn money from that rental. Yet still on assistance.

It's a racket.

You could employ a little honesty, and call it what it really is.

It's a "Reagan" phone. It was Ronald Reagan, that established the "Lifeline" Phone Access Service for low income families.

All the Obama administration did, was upgrade an existing law, to cover new and emerging technology, like cell phones. So thank your boy Ronnie for all the free phones.

I agree. That's the sad part. But I also think it's hard for people in need to get help already. People who are use to working the system know all the tricks. People who are use to working, don't even know what they can apply for. When my son was denied foodstamps. I assumed it was because he doesn't have any kids. When the black man was without kids was selling his, I assumed it's because my son is white.

Bureaucrats are too stupid to even understand this, its pretty simple, you make home inspection, if they see that a family or single parent has all the latest and modern stuff, investigate.

If you see a home where all the stuff looks like they bought it at a second hand store or goodwill, then chances are they are struggling.

Now I know certain leftist will say oh, it could be a one time gift blah blah blah, here is the problem with that, if they have someone that can give them a gift like that why are they not helping them in other ways?

If you're on welfare and your parents give you a modern TV, kick azz computer system among other toys well something is wrong.

I have one sister and one brother, if they lose their job and fell into hard times, each of the siblings would step in, my parents would step in .

And do what? Give them dog food for dinner?

Who are you to say what anyone can choose to give a family member? If people are struggling, ESPECIALLY family members, then other family members should be the last people on the planet to want to rub their noses in it.

Some father, or brother, or cousin, or nephew, chooses to give a single mother in their family something nice for Christmas, or her birthday, anyone that complains about that is just jealous
