Topic: Why do people post old pictures on a dating site??? | |
---|---|
Have any of your found that people post old pictures on their dating profile?
Why do they do that? It's so disappointing meeting someone who looks older than their picture. |

I think you should warn them..before you meet them telling them you are really into looks..then when those disappoint you at meeting, you could berate them in person! Everyone takes a good picture every now and again, some stick with those, probably assuming personality and charm are more important. You can set them straight :-) |

For the record, my profile pic is probably about 5 or 6 years old, but all others I used were recent. I haven't changed...... much...

My my my, someone who looks their age, or who has changed their hair style, sooooo disappointing. All most as disappointing as finding out they are not a millionaire, and don't own a hundred foot yacht.

Because online deception is easy.
Because they like their younger appearance better than the reality in the mirror. Because they are looking for someone younger than they are. Because they think that picture will attract more possible matches. Because they have self-esteem issues. Because that is the only picture they have with them wearing their favorite outfit. Because their kid broke the camera. Because they want to? |

Maybe they don't plan on meeting In person. Or think you won't notice they're different. |

I just rarely take pictures of myself, the camera's usually pointed away from me. I don't feel different, do I look different? Oops, don't use mirrors much either. Appearance doesn't matter that much to me. I don't do it to deceive anyone. Mine are less than 5 years old, I think.
The Registry of Motor Vehicles here in Massachusetts takes a new picture of you every 8 years, that's probably about good enough for me. |

Maybe they don't plan on meeting In person. Or think you won't notice they're different. Your first sentence is absolutely correct. Let's face it. The chances of actually meeting someone in person are very low so some people tend to exaggerate or post older photos so their egos will not be hurt. |

I'm asking for an update photo of a man now. Waiting!! We're suppose to meet soon this summer, however, most men I met in person look like their picture except one was very Heavy. He didn't have a full photo. Maybe that was why! NO ONE FROM MINGLE.

As you can see, I have no photo. I've always been told I look better in person. I simply do not photograph well. Maybe 1 or 2 out of 50 pics I would accept as looking like me. Selfies... from a cell phone, for me, are the worst. I come off looking like Frankenstein eating a tuna sandwich! Cameras DO lie... at least in my case.

I think they are picking what looks best & not thinking about that they may meet someone in person. Or they might think they still look like the old photo.

I agree, why do so many folks put old pictures up? Do they really think that if you end up meeting in person we will not notice? And those women who put up high school pictures from 40 years ago. Don't know about you, but cryogenics are pretty expensive and I really don't think they look like that any more. Age and gravity are hard on many......
