I like where you are headed, now we only have to outlaw sticks, stones and people calling you names. Oh... and pressure cookers, cars, knives, airplanes and really hot water. While we are making more laws, lets make laws against dogs that might bite, mosquitos that do bite and my ex that is just plain nuts. Or... Maybe we should keep our eyes open and report those misfits that are doing all the harm to others before they go out and do something crazy. Just my opinion of course. okay. more of the any action leads to extreme actions argument. |

How are they get evidence that a person with a gun stopped a mass killing if by stopping them makes it not happen? it is probably evidenced by the type and amount of weapons/ammunitions found on the shooter ... I dont know from 'liberals' or 'conservatives' I do feel we should do what we can to make it more difficult for children to be gunned down in schools. In this case, there were several flags that should have been acted upon and which could have helped prevent it. But in the vast majority of mass school shootings such warnings are not so clearly discernible or actionable. And in the vast majority I feel like there would not have been AS MUCH carnage if weapons weren't sold to citizens that were designed with military style designs to create mass carnage quickly. I also agree meds should be looked at, but being honest, an unstable person on drugs will have just as much difficulty as one on those drugs, if they do not have access to a mass destruction weapon to cause mass destruction. |

not really... They only time we hear "something needs to be done" it's about guns, nothing else...
what country is that then? In america, "something needs to be done about illegal immigration" "something needs to be done about voter fraud." "something needs to be done about muslim terrorism" "something needs to be done about illicit drugs" "something needs to be done about welfare" etc... etc... etc... |

could you please leave out the "liberals bad/conservatives good"
rhetoric ? it's getting tiring and offers nothing of substance to the discussion...if the Police or the FBI, who dropped the ball in this instance, were made up of only conservatives would the result automatically have changed ?? don't get offended, i'm just asking to leave political affiliations out of it please...i don't want this thread locked, like my other one, for arguments over nonsense.. sorry i had to say something and i don't want say any more about laying blame because it's the liberals fault...NHF ? |

when you attend the funerals of these murdered children i'm sure grieving survivors will be comforted hearing words like this... "there there children, everything will be alright, we responsible adults are working diligently to stop these things from happening to you...We are planning to have all your teachers armed with guns to protect you from the bad guys" Yes I'm sure they would rather hear.. "there there children, everything will be alright, we liberals will take all the guns away from law abiding citizens so that only criminal and deranged people will have them. This will keep all of you safe in our fantasy land." the discussion is not about "taking away all guns" anymore than a discussion on recalling certain makes and models of cars are about 'taking away all cars'. |

2nd amendment,it's a right to have a gun.banning guns is not happening regulating the RETAIL and MANUFACTURING of guns does not infringe on a right to OWN A GUN. Making all types of guns inaccessible would, and noone is calling for that. It's like regulating the building and sale of homes does not prevent people from access to have shelter, Retail/manufacturing of weapons does not prevent people from having access to (any) weapons. Guns made here in the US are regulated to the max. Maybe you want to regulate them out of business? |

I only want that portion 'out of business', |

banning assault weapons is not going to keep the crazies from killing kids..what happens when the next crazy walks into a school and uses two semi automatic pistols with a 20 round clip..then what..not an assault weapon but just as many could die..then what.. ![]() |

drunk driving laws wont prevent drunk driving from EVER happening
Recalling risky toy parts, wont prevent a kid from EVERY being injured with some toy once again, there is no fantasy that states a law will prevent ALL future incidents of anything, that is not the point of laws, the point of laws are to set standards and have a legal recourse for holding them to it.... |

if any person can give a valid reason why they need
to have any weapon that fires a round as fast as you can pull the trigger i'd like to hear it... Do you need it to shoot 50 deer in 3 minutes ?? Do you need in case 50 robbers are breaking in your house ?? Do you need it to take on the the tyrannical government that just pulled in your driveway in a armored personnell carrier ??? give me a ANY reason why you NEED a semi-auto weapon ??? |

I feel it is all been done& said before ...
most are right ... lets blame this person lets blame that person ... always someone to blame ... but nothing will be done ... what do they say in war when there is a mishap with your own forces ... it was friendly fire ... they will never get all these high power guns out of the United States ... remember the military guy ...who slipped through the cracks at the airport ... forget about all the laws ...forget about the damn guns ... start getting security in these schools like this ... https://youtu.be/kcpsnrxHdCc ... sure a heavy price to pay ... but the children are priceless ... Gun control never gets anywhere ... The country needs other solutions ... on how to keep innocent people safe ... they have it right on phones with a app for your houses ... but this can be use for churches business and any place you would like to help yourself and community be safe ... change the laws good luck with that ... change the way you help keep you home... business... places ... you want to feel safe going to ... ... https://youtu.be/aMyrk4x1VtQ more Ideas welcome ... forget the laws... forget the guns ... Ideas that might save lives now ... stop waiting ... https://youtu.be/aMyrk4x1VtQ |

i'll suggest an idea...
how about expanding backround checks to allow 30 days to complete them ??? is there a reason someone can't wait more than 3 days to take possession of their assault weapon ?? i think a 30 day waiting period would allow for a more in-depth vetting process... this would especially apply to persons who already have purchased an assault weapon(s) How long ago ? has their life changed or become stressed or have they began abusing their spouse or children since their last purchase ? what's the big hurry...use your other gun and if everything checks you can pick this new one up next month.. whats wrong with waiting 30 days to evaluate any purchase..?? any objections or other suggestions on backround checks ??? |
