Topic: Why Are People Based On Their Weight?

just my personal opinion on this matter.... I think that if you can't take care of yourself then why would I want to be with you? I mean it may sound shallow but, it's the truth. I don't want some one all depressed cause they are over weight and complains about it all the time yet, to lazy to get up and do something about it. I got enough going on to have to babysit that!
huh

What about those of us that don't bytch about our weight? You ASSume that all overweight people sit around and complain about it. I am who I am. I love who I am and have no complaints. I'm not interested in you babysitting me.

I think we all like what we like...no one is right or wrong!! So all I can say is just be happy with yourself and if you don't have any issues about self-confidence...then don't worry about it!!
Be happy and be healthy flowerforyou

Hell, let it go.

is that not what you said? sounds to me like you are telling me what to do, and just to let you know, i am not angry. i dont let things bother me. i'm just stating my opinion here, just like you!

You seemed to forget that this is a public forum. Tho I quoted you, it was so people knew which remarks I was responding to, but my comments were in no way directed solely at you. I have a much broader mind (and ass) than that.

Look. I have my preferences. If I am not mistaken, we all listed what we were looking for in a match? Right? If choose to not to want to date someone who is "BIG" then that is my preference. Actually, I don't like ultra thin women. Never have, and that is just a preference of mine. If someone likes only thin people, then that is what they like. No reason to be hating on someone for that.

This is same as the long/short hair thread.
Quit letting what others say bother you.
Find happiness with yourself & don't let what others say bother you.
I have been called FAT/OBESE/OVER WEIGHT all my life.
Yes I am not perfect, DON'T WANT TO BE.
I judge people for how they act, not just appearance factors.
I really feel pity for those that judge on looks
Never know what they have missed with those they passed by.
Also pity those that let others rude thoughts bother them.

when you use the quote, it looks as if you are directing that comment towards the person. maybe you could have been more clear in how you phrased it. no hard feelings.

See, that's what I don't understand---if one states he/she prefers a thinner mate, everyone becomes incensed, yet if one states he/she prefers a larger/fat mate, everyone thinks it's the greatest thing going.... the hypocrisy is annoying.

Question: why is it okay for a man (or a woman for that matter) to prefer fat women but not okay for a man to prefer thin women?

Amen to this! I think that most people recognize that the body image presented by magazines is unhealthy. We criticize men for liking thin women because it promotes that unhealthy body image. Being too heavy isn't healthy either, though. (Statistically speaking, that is. Kudos to those of you who are both heavy and healthy.)

I don't have any gripe with people having a preference, though. As a 5'5" man, I've been rejected for being too short on numerous occasions and I can't hold that against anybody. I want my partner to find me as attractive as I find her. It's an important component of a complete relationship.

Because of our society. Media portrays all these beautiful people in movies etc. and some people feel the need to look like them. I think we have programmed in America to "think thin" when in all reality there all all different sizes.

And maybe you could have been a little less animosity. =)

I don't understand that myself Gustava...its like they get annoyed if someone likes a skinny person!! I think people have to understand that everyone likes different kinds of people. I say to each their own...who cares!! I think everyone just needs to either be happy with their weight or do something about it..dayummm people!!!

I agree it's hypocritacal(we really need a spell checker for post) The saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder is true. What is beauty to one person is not to another. Each of us have our own preferences to what we seek in a potential mate.

Well this got a better reaction, than the "Why Do Men Hate Short Hair on Women?" thread down in Miscellaneous...

Certainly great topics to get reactions happening.

I have short hair, and I am skinny... so I have a weight problem.... my answer to any that doesn't like it? Big F*ckin Deal.

yawn yawn yawn

If you spend your life trying to be what others expect or want you to be, and feel that you get left behind for a multitude of external reasons...you will get left behind, for a multitude of internal reasons.

short, tall, thin, big, who cares...be yourself. we are all beautiful in our own ways. those who cant see it, that is who i feel pity for. i love me, just as i am...dont like it, dont look. sexy is in the attitude. i love everyone just as they are. xoxoxo if you chose to change something do it for you, not for the sake of someone else! love yourself. if you cant love yourself you cant love anyone else!

Don't play coy Gustava, you know exactly why you're just being too PC to say it out loud. It's envy.

If someone's happy with the way they are they don't complain, it's the ones who really aren't but say they are cause they don't want to put in hours at the gym. hey, I'm not great, I'm just me, but I'd rather be me with hard abs and the v-shape torso and I can't get that by complaining.
