It seems 1-5% answer rate is about average for everyone here, judging by past forum posts.

Do you write to ladies who live close enough to you?
Take time to read their profile and make the message personal.
Messages that just say "hey, what's up?" are easy to overlook.

Maybe its what you say and how you say it. If your too pushy or disrespectful you wont get a response man. Just chill and be free and funny :] none of the hey baby how you doing bs lol your not getting a response.

Well, that's nothing! I had a guy on here writing me romantic novels for like 2 weeks straight and then he just up and DISAPPEARED. I'm like, did he get run over by a bus or something, like that old flick, 'An Affair to remember'? WTF! LOL!

Been there and done that too! I always answer all of my mail...it's being friendly...isn't that what alot of us are here for?

Put some more specific info in your profile. You don't have any interests really defined. Just that red line of general interests. That doesn't give a person much to work with. Sports. Well, there are tons of sports out there. Rather than saying sports or out door activities, I've listed the ones I like. Camping, rafting, snowmobiling.

When I get messages, I'm more likely to respond to the ones that actually say something. That pick a couple things from my profile to talk about. People who just say my profile sounded interesting and ask if I want to talk don't stand out. And then, if there isn't anything for me to work with in their profile, I probably won't reply.

You have to send them emails again and again and again and again. Just keep emailing emailing that's what I do

Now I'm just blocked from everyone's email so I just blame that instead of my personality dysfunctions...much easier on my ego that way.

Yeha its wierd, I write to people close around my area within 50 miles, most of the people i write to dont have much in there profile to work with either. I usually just say i liked reading ur profile, u seem very interesting, nice pics maybe something specific if theres anything there and then just give me a shout maybe we have something in common. I have gotten a couple replies, mostly just saying hey then nothing more. And alot of no replies. I just hate that lol.

1. I'm a freaking WRITER and the locals will NEVER write back, no matter how clever, threatening, incomprehensible, friendly, circumlocutory, or backwards my note is. I gave up on the locals AGES ago. Not worth the aggravation.

2. What I discovered is that, once I started posting in the forums, women started writing to me, usually because they read something I wrote. Being essentially lazy anyway, this seemed like a better deal to me, since I didn't have to write anybody first. Of course, the caveat is that all the women who write to me are 897,000 miles away or more. Still, if the earth wanders out of its orbit for some reason, and approaches Neptune, I may have some new friends to hang out with.

3. Trying to evaluate potential prospects by their profiles is like trying to evaluate the nutritional content of a product by reading only the 14th ingredient on the list. Could be ANYTHING. 95% of the profiles are worse than useless. Most of the ones I've seen (and I have seen thousands) contain fewer than 3 sentences about that person. If they have 3 sentences, the 3 sentences are, "I'm laid back. I like to hang out with my friends. Anything else you want to know, you'll have to ask." Makes you want to get right on that, huh?

4. My own profile is longer than the Encyclopedia Brittanica, and that's on purpose because that way, it weeds out the illiterates. That's the theory, anyway. Actually, it's because I got so tired of seeing empty, vapid, brain-dead idiot profiles, that I decided I would make SURE mine had some CONTENT in it (or at least some preservatives).

5. At this point, I just post a lot of stuff, a lot of people look at my profile, I never hear from most of them (they are too busy shooting deer or buying big tires for the car in the front yard), but I DO hear a from a lot of the people who read my forum posts. Does this help? No. But it MIGHT, somewhere down the road.
