Hey, my friend.

No need to be jealous. It is a fun contemplation, this Existential Thought.

It is about the notion of being, and its definition as a mental discipline, as it appears to me.

Some see a duality in man, some see a trilateral composite in man, and others see differently as well.

The core seems to center on Satre's expression of the tensions between belief and knowledge in the human mind with repect to man's fulness of being.

Surely , you have some thoughts on this.

What do you think Existentialism expresses?

I could be wrong, but I got a 'in good fun' humorous, and somewhat flattering wink from 'nuenjins' !!!

And if I am wrong 'nuenjins', don't say anything. I'd rather think of you as 'humorous', and in 'good spirit'!!!

:)

(Wouldee)n't you see it that way too !!!

Oh, Ninja-man...

I debate not for the sake of competition, I assure you...

I discuss for the sake of gaining understanding...

If one is not familiar with accepted definition(s), and uses terms with the intent of expressing a notion that is not consistent with it's widely-accepted definition, a failure of understanding the original intent will surely follow...

This, in my eyes, would then require one of two things...

The recipient must completely disregard commonly accepted definitions of concepts in lieu of an infant replacement...

Or...

The proposer of the concept gain better understanding of said concepts and incorporate these in an acceptable context, without changing the intent of the message. If this cannot be done, then the said proposer needs to find a better expression route, which successfully conveys meaning...

The problem I found was that some of the terminology I used had well established meaning prior to my use... thereby changing the meaning of the expression...

I feel clarification is the proposer's responsibility in this case... that would be me.laugh

It is not a matter of 'win or lose'... that REQUIRES competition, of which there is none...

interesting ... and curious jins ... what is it about others walking their path their way ... in thoughtful exploration ... of beliefs foreign to you ... that offends you so? ...

...and which part of you ... me ... us... as human beings gets offended?

'creative',

I feel the need to extend a 'pre-emptive' apology to you.

Call me dense, but I sincerely never read the 'competition-win-lose' angle in 'nuenjins' earlier post.

If I had, I would have discarded it outright. I am of the same mind as you on this essential point.

Exchanging thoughts, beliefs, concepts, etc. amongst humans is challenging enough as it is, we certainly should avoid making it into some sort of competition.

If it is about 'winning', it would only be in the sense of gaining from our remaining 'open' to the essence of our 'exchangers'.

I acknowledge and repect your abiblity to speak what you believe and think with conviction, without a hint of wishing to impose it on others.

An exchange between humans of good faith, surely.
A competition, surely not!

Let me know if the 'pre-emptive' apology is needed???

Voile:

No apologies needed from you to I, my friend... nor from Ninja.

I was merely deliberately identifying what I recognized the state of the discussion to be, to add some clarity from my perspective. As it seems 'the announcer' had misplaced the script.

I had never contemplated our exchange as anything other than between two with good intention... and surely it will continue as such, I am confident.

No offense intended... no offense taken...

Voile was correct in his assessment of my intentions. I respect him and acknowlege his ability to express ideas in a complete and contemplative manner.

I think I'm getting new perspective just by reading his posts. They don't sway me per se' but they enhance my capacity to understand different points of view.

'creative' posted this fable, parable, rich myth as the core piece of a thread he's hosting, 'A curiously familiar story'. Some of you may very have read it already.

I would simply suggest that ths is a perfect 'latteral' pass at spaking the quintessential trick of EGO !!!

I invite you to read the fable again, from the context of 'existentialism', and the 'nothingness' or 'absurd' apsects of life that it attempts to have us embrace!

Attempt, because ego will do everything to force 'I' to remain separate from 'soul', throughout one's life!

A Native American myth recounts that the Creator gathered all of creation and said, "I want to hide something from humans until they are ready for it. It is the realization that they can create their own life and their own reality."

The eagle said, "Give it to me; I'll take it to the moon and hide it there."

But the Creator said, "No, one day they will go there and will find it."

Then the salmon said, "Give it to me; I'll hide it in the bottom of the sea."

"No," said the Creator, "they'll get there too."

Well, the buffalo came and said, "Give it to me; I'll bury it in the plains."

The Creator said, "No, they will get there. They will cut into the skin of the earth, and they will find it even there."

But then Grand Mother mole came, the one that has no physical eyes to see on the outside but has spiritual eyes and the capacity to see on the inside, and she said, "Put it inside them; they'll never find it there."

And the Creator said, "It is done."

This is closer to Sartre, Camus, Krisnamurti, Nietzsche, Buddha, Jesus, Socrates, Gandhi, Dalaï Lama, Native Souls, and many others of the same spirit than meets the eye.

You have a creator in a most impersonal sense.

You have a clear 'coming from', rather than 'getting somewhere' dimension.

You have the whole creation participating at the forefront, rather than stricly humans (at the forefront).

You have wisdom in the form of a 'women', which is so!

And you have an unresolvable 'paradox',

Hard to remain cynical in front of such pure 'light'.

I washed something, dried it quickly and tossed it aside.

Repeat 10 times and stack the work to find I wrinkled the first when I dug it out from the bottom of the pile.

Smooth it out I say. Repeat or iron it out?

I ponder the past with a present observation and see the future.

I'll take a nap, now....laugh laugh laugh

An American phenomenon. To build a fan base..hhmmmmm.....

I sieze an illusion and run with it. It is real.

I build on it and display the colorful wonder by lifting maxims, crossing lines, coloring out side the box to present my unidimensional oddity.

They applaud and humor my muse...amazing.

I'm encouraged to feed the illusion and carry the load only to find momentum to accelerate the muse.

They pile on the train and ride on my view, my abstract of applause, their silly devotions, my web of temptation.

How lucid the illusion, how they're utterly deluded.

pondering my demise in the delusion eluded.

Art, that's what this is, expressive distractions and the enertainment thereof.

Art, it is what it is, imitating life and securing reality.

Absurdity defined.

Art is art, wher can I go now. I have defined my illusion and they follow behind.

Art! I cry, Where is the art? I moan.

My illusion is a delusion I must bear in mind.

It brought me here, they carried my drone.

I must lead the way, I stole it with a lucid vision.

I broke the silence like a pied piper in tune.

Art, art, where is the art?

In the picture I paint or in the vision of its stealth?

Art is the power, the applause is the motive; not the reward.

So then, art it is. Let's show its weakness and express the first image. How swoon was apprehended and fed the muse.

I tell the illusion and break the silence with exposing the mystery by challenging delusion.

They cry, they wail, they utterly dismay that I would stoop so low as to steal my prosperity creating a gullible addiction.

They frown, they wince, I exposed their delusion.

With lucidity I descrbe my illusion and remove the myth.

More, more, give us more. We don't want this reality anymore!

I won't , I can't, you must understand.

The myth and the mystery are the illusion, not the lucid exposure of your delusion, I muse out loud and indifferent just as I supposed.

But it's art! I demand, you are no longer amused, I am abandoned for the dupe that brought such contempt.

My device was to teach, you did not learn, that the art is not in the delusion, but born of illusion.

Artists walk where others will follow, but their path must not turn back in explanation of that which was blazing the trail.

I am pleased with myself. Well is it, it is what it is?

I am not sure if I am "dis-connected' enough yet to allow further understanding to be embraced in this existential format...

Besides, it lead me more into and along the lines of psychology rather than true existentialism... which was the OP's intent...

I thank you all for allowing my active participation...
