THERE IS NO END OF THIS CRYING, U RIGHT

today i dried your tears
gently with this soft cloth
for you looked into a dark
and rotting cavity
where fears are justified
and sickness gurgles with slime mold
where human sewage flows
but it flows away

and if we turn instead
out into the open sea and across
there are lands which dance still
in my vivid memory
or is it my imagination
when people sit and laugh together
discussing fervent hopes
and silly nothingness

where climbers still venture into
the wilderness, onto the foothills
and into thinner air

where stars glimmer in flat blackness overhead
with 360 degrees of horizon and sometimes the moon
has brilliant colors like the edge of night

and where we smile at each other
with a knowing glance
