can I take into the USA?
Most sites only mention cigarettes and cigars, I don't smoke either.
I want to bring my regular brand of smoking/rolling tobacco with me, which is difficult to get in the US, if at all.

One site said only 200 grams, which is very little, other sites say 2 kilos.
Anyone here who can help me out?

I'd do a google search on U.S. customs.

Looks like you're allowed enough for about 100 cigarettes duty free.
If you bring more you'll have to pay duty on it, which probably won't be all that much. Make sure you list it on the customs forms.
Make sure the tobacco is in the container you bought it in with any "non tobacco" ingredients listed. And probably expect to get some "looks" and maybe a little extra "look" into your baggage.

don't buy it while in Texas, the taxes on it are outrageous... way cheaper in Louisiana...

This link....

http://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/53/~/traveler-bringing-tobacco-products-(cigarettes,-cigars,-bidis)-to-the-u.s.-for

...says this about loose tobacco:

"" For pipe/
loose tobacco products, contact the port of
entry directly.""

....and provides a link to contact whichever point of entry you are using.

And....you can email them with a question here:

I did Google, find it very confusing.

I didn't know port of entry would matter. I'd have thought these rules would be national. Your country is really difficult, pffff...

I've planned to take 10 packets with me, which is 500 grams. I'll prolly smoke less than normal, so it should tide me over. Otherwise I'll have to resort to cigs the last week (which I hate, lol)

Thank you for your feedback, I guess I'll better mail them to ask.
I'll be landing in Houston first, then on to Pensacola.

Thank you for the info and links!!

Haha, thank you!

I don't think the brand I normally smoke is being exported. I think Drum's the only Dutch tobacco that's exported. So I take it Drum should be for sale somewhere, although I understood it is then made in the US.

My daughter said you can't get smoking tobacco where she lives though (Enterprise, AL) :/

US consulate in Amsterdam just ruined my good mood, lol.
They replied to my email, only giving me a link to a website. No answers. Effing w@nkers.

When I click the link, I get this:
There is no U.S. Customs representative in The Netherlands

The United States Customs office servicing The Netherlands is located at the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt Germany. Click here for information.

frustrated

I go to the Frankfurt website, same info I found everywhere else: 200 cigs, blabla cigars.

frustrated frustrated

Just unbelievable ... you can't phone them, you can't mail them, you're just put in eternal orbit.
Welcome to America?

I have never ever gotten something so rude from a Dutch official organisation, not even from a company. Unbelievable, I'm seriously LMAO

Tobacco / Snuff ("Snus")

You are permitted to bring 100 cigars or 200 cigarettes (one carton) into the US duty free, or one roll ("stock") of snuff into the US duty free.

http://sweden.usembassy.gov/consulate/acs4.html

I know this says Sweden it is for bringing it in to the US.

I know the cruises we have taken that they will let us bring back 2 cartons of Cigarettes each duty free.. We normally buy them for friends due to no taxes makes them a lot cheaper to get then they are here.

But have never had our bags checked heck since you roll your own you could put a roll of it and several places to hid it.. or as some said mail it.. ahead of time..

As far as tobacco it was 200 grams

I roll my own as well & have shopped the internet in the quest to create-"The Perfect Blend";] If you tell me what tobacco you enjoy Crystal, perhaps I can give you some information as to how best to procure in The States;} Actually the issue is not availability but really- affordability$$$, because any European blend is available in The US ~If you can afford to pay big buck$$$ for it! If the cost of your brand is outrageous, perhaps I can offer suggestions as to a less expensive but comparable domestic blend. We do grow some some lovely tobaccos here in The US that you might totally enjoy?smile2
