You posted at the same time. Did you mean me or Goof? Btw, Goof, I expect a personal invite to Goof Island. Indeed.....Goof Island has a five star resort with salon, saloon, and a top notch kitchen headlined by Chef Boyardee! We spare no expense! OH boy do I need to bring my suit or are they provided Well if you purchase bathing suits at Goof Island then you will be subject to my own personal design wishes. I guess I will let you unless it is those stupid twine things... I would rather go with out. |

Actually, I did lose everything I owned when
it was all stolen in 2008. I had the clothes on my back to start over. And no $$, he stole that too. So, first things first, I got a refrigerator. May not sound like much, but it allowed some independence. Good locks on the doors. A couch, chairs. Microwave. That is about all I have replaced. When you have nothing, the smallest things are gifts. Point is, I do not think that ever again will I buy..'stuff'. My head is changed, ya know? Even if it came free, I would probably find others who are in my old situation and help them. Yikes, didn't mean to rain on your parade! |

Awww.. you still have your training wheels on..lol.jk. Heck yea we all need a little help sometimes... Heck now you did not say we had to spend it all at one time if so I would add a Beach house in Destin Florida both fully furnished .. and a Log home up in the mountains somewhere.. and ohh hell a jet ski, a boat, horses, 4 wheelers... might as well have a plane and fuel for a lifetime... And of course donations to all my favorite Charities~~ |

Before a house or vehicle etc,i would travel. A round the world first class ticket if there is such a thing ! A laptop too so i can look on the forums to see if anyone lives nearby. Then a bar for a drink or ten with the guys,or a damn good restaurant with the ladies.
My minds wandering thinking about the blank cheque, so maybe easier to buy flights and hotel rooms for everyone for a cool party and jam somewhere hot and on a beach. Hey,a guy can dream can't he ? There are just too many places to visit and things to do before i would settle somewhere |

ok.. you are the one and only exception... you can take and cash the blank check... and help as many people as you wish...ok.. Screw them. I want a fully stocked library. Within it every book I have ever read. And all the ones I haven't. |

Humm, I would get an older craftsman home with a wrap around porch, state of the art kitchen. Basic furniture and appliances, My laptop and tablet. But a separate cabin to have my craft/sewing room.

I'd get me a big azz house on the beach, with a huge bar, and six or seven French maids to "keep it clean and fireproof". Oh, and maybe some kind of car in case we needed to go for groceries or "something".

so you've lost everything in a house fire... the insurance company.. is giving you a blank check...what are some of the things you go out and replaced immediately
Exactly that which I lost in the fire, to return me to normal and where I was before the fire. The entire point of insurance. Insurance isn't a lottery system. Otherwise I'd be a scum bag committing insurance fraud. The more I spend, the more I buy stuff I didn't actually lose, the more the insurance company loses, the more other poor schlubs paying insurance have their premiums increase in order to offset my shopping spree. And all the things I would actually want to save, like photos, and baubles inherited from family members, are just lost and can't be replaced. Unfortunately, it's questions or hypothetical scenarios like this, that get people to think about what they get to gain if something bad would just happen, helping them fall into the whole morale hazard of insurance. |

Unfortunately, it's questions or hypothetical scenarios like this, that get people to think about what they get to gain if something bad would just happen, helping them fall into the whole morale hazard of insurance. ...... ...... . and I'm pretty sure anybody who has ever dealt with his insurance company.. knows it is not a jackpot..lol... insurance is just... is exactly what it is..... it ensures you that if you were to.. lose your belongings.. in one way or another.... they' ensure you.. that they will replace or.... make you whole again...... perhaps I should have said. if you're winning lottery numbers come in.... but that topic has already be done..lol... and I was more curious on what people would replace.. or put value on the most...... the blank check part was just for fun.. you know! let people. dream a little.. kind of like when you buy a lottery ticket you know!..wink.... but your point is very well taken..... so for you the question would be. if your numbers came in and you hit the jackpot.. what would you do..ok.. . |

I really don't know, I would be gutted. The most expensive things I own can't be replaced, ( well they could, but it wouldn't be the same)
I've got 3 diamond rings, that were super expensive, that my parents bought me, one for my 21st, and the other 2 after having 2 major operations and they can be re-made the same, but it wouldn't feel the same. |

I have been there that our stuff got destroyed by a fire ... I was 14. I'll never forget that stench. Lost all my dolls, found them in the attic, half burnt, half melted. Looked worse than a horror movie, I bolted from the attic when I saw them. One of the scariest things I've ever seen in my life.
Apart from a house and necessities like a fridge, a good bed & mattress etc. ... a PC! A new car And a good shopping spree to buy lots of clothes, and replace my old busted boots *damn miss my boots!* Replace most of my books. Buy new crystals and be gutted about losing the ones I got, because they can not be replaced. Retrieve my safe and hope the photo negatives survived --> my kid's pictures! and have the whole lot printed again. Rent someone in to do my garden, cos if I have to do that again ... my back & neck cannot handle that a second time around! |

Clothing. A tiny or small house. A car. Make sure I live in the country. Own a camper/trailer so I can travel around the country when I want, and have a home to go back to. Enough money to maintain this. What more is there?
