Would you date someone who has the same name as your siblings or parents? Don't know that I would date a woman named Arnold, Howard, or William |

Not if I can help it. I wouldn't date anyone with red hair either, since almost every woman in my family has red hair. The associations are just too ingrained. When I hear their name, or see their hair, I just start treating them the same as I would my siblings or parents or grandparents or cousins, which means I see them the same...in a non sexual/mating kind of way. |

In Judaism, it's not allowed to marry someone who has the same name as siblings or parents, for same reason as stated by Ciretom. I think it's very wise. |

Lived under the same roof with Nick, Nick and Nikky.
My ex, my son and my ex's daughter, also called "Nik" by him. So .. whenever I called out "Nick!" .. the reply would be "Which one?" I won't easily date someone with the same name as an ex. |

Hell yes. Just think of how much you'll save on monograms!
Now, if the lady insisted that I constantly refer to her as "mommy," i might be a bit put off. if she insisted on "sister," I'd tend to doubt that she had been out of the convent long enough. And of course if she wanted to be referred to by my father's name, that would be really tough. Limits to everything, I guess. Is this why so many young people today refer to EVERYONE as "dude"? |
