Obama's weakness in the face of threats around the world is very dangerous, but long term, Putin is the bigger threat. In two years we will have a new president who will likely be a strong leader, much like we had Reagan after the political debacle that was the 1970's.

Some truth in your post, but too many ifs..Not so sure I would choose Putin at this point...Look at the damage this fecking president of ours managed to create during his FIRST year in office!...His stupidity is way more dangerous to world peace than Putin's "regional" aggression...The Ukraine crisis proved it!...Obama's indifference to world affairs, his lackadaisical policies will impact long after he leaves office, making him the biggest threat to world peace....Like it or lump it, the US is still the biggest player and the disconnect between diplomatic principles and practices is so great now that it is empowering our enemies!!...The Obama administration ALLOWED the Ukraine crisis to happen...Why should anyone, especially Israel, believe anything this administration says?...We broke our promise to Ukraine without batting an eye!...Why should Iran or anyone else halt nuclear programs based on any type of guarantee from THIS administration?...Once Obama is OUT, hopefully the US will have OPPORTUNITY AND TIME to redeem itself...Obama would not even make a pimple on a world leaders azz...rant

In addition, the debt with which Obama has saddled the US could cause the failure of the financial system. The goal of every enemy power against the US has been to bring down the US. Obama may accomplish that goal for them.

That's right Joe!!...Is it just me, or are others dumbfounded by the blind sheep mentality that put this azzhole in office not once, but twice?...There IS a big picture people and it's not pretty....It NEVER ceases to amaze me how anyone with even half a brain can support this man "just because he holds office"....slaphead ...Might want to take a closer look at who's pushing which buttons in that voting booth people....whoa

Part of it is blind but the bigger part is self interest over the interest of the nation. We have become a nation of people who want the government to give them as much as possible with no regard to what that drain does to the future of our society.

When Obama opens the floodgates to immigrants whose goal is to get as much free public "stuff" as possible and return to the US society as little as possible (check out the underground hispanic cash economy!), his goal is to increase the permanent numbers of Democratic voters, NOT make the US a stronger, better, more productive nation.

I believe also that much of the government policy on urban poverty is designed to keep the people in poverty, not bring them out. Free goodies are a proven means of control... as is lack of education.

It reminds me of book I read as a child "Starship Troopers" by Robert Heinlein, ... and turned into a movie not too many years ago. Briefly mentioned in the movie but in much greater detail in the book was the concept of "earned citizenship". No one automatically was a citizen. In this future sci-fi story the world had learned it's lesson that citizens who only wanted "stuff" were not deserving of the privilege to vote. To vote you had to be of service to the country in some way such as joining the military or any of a number of other productive ways.

Apparently, the political system desribed in the book was interesting enough to have an article in Wikipedia... some of which is as follows.

"The people of the Terran Federation are either "Citizens" or "Civilians". Everyone is born a "Civilian", and at age 18 every "Civilian" has the right to enroll for a minimal 2-year term of "Federal Service". In theory a completed term of Federal Service ensures a "Citizen" is willing to put the needs of the community before their own personal well-being. This is because Federal Service is tough and dangerous (by design). It can involve joining the military, being a human guinea pig, testing survival equipment, or manual labour. The Federation makes it quite easy to quit a term of service before completion (even during war-time), but once someone has quit they are never allowed to enroll again. This is to ensure that all volunteers are dedicated, whilst also discouraging people from leaving.

The Federation makes the opportunity of Federal Service open to everyone, able-bodied or not. A doctor giving a medical examination says "if you came in here in a wheelchair and blind in both eyes and were silly enough to insist on enrolling, they would find you something silly to match. Counting the fuzz on a caterpillar by touch, maybe." The only impediment that can render one ineligible for federal service is if a psychiatrist determines that one cannot understand the oath of service.

"Civilians" are neither discriminated against, nor deprived of legal rights other than that of the ballot. Several examples from the book bear this out, particularly the fact that Juan Rico's family is prosperous and lacks for nothing save the right to vote (which Rico's father regards as "useless" anyway).

Only after completing a term of Federal Service can "Civilians" become "Citizens" and gain the right to vote.

did the founding fathers everyone raves about really envision a civics requirement in order for the right to vote?

who will determine what qualifies as 'productive'?

signing a contract to give your life over in war? or having the finances?

why not just go back to slavery,,,,no rights for anyone but the elite majority? (with the exception of those who are willing to fight in war)

we blame everyone and everything but our own culture and values

its not about understanding finances, I doubt the majority of voters since Americas foundation had a very clear understanding of that and certainly in this day and age when there are so many living with 'credit' cards

its about an alleged right to be represented,, and that should even include those who are in need and those who may not be finance experts,,,

those adults who knowingly and intentionally enter illegally should have no legal standing here

'illegals' however consist of many more circumstances than the above

that is certainly a different consideration than requiring some civil service in order to be represented (vote)

"did the founding fathers everyone raves about really envision a civics requirement in order for the right to vote?"

Yes they did. It is called the "concept of personal responsibility".

"those adults who knowingly and intentionally enter illegally should have no legal standing here"

As this thread continues to explore ... Why does Obama choose to represent "those adults who knowingly and intentionally enter illegally should have no legal standing here" over the best interests of the citizens of the US if not to try to bolster the voting ranks of Democrats at extreme financial cost to the country?

did the founding fathers everyone raves about really envision a civics requirement in order for the right to vote?

who will determine what qualifies as 'productive'?

signing a contract to give your life over in war? or having the finances?

why not just go back to slavery,,,,no rights for anyone but the elite majority? (with the exception of those who are willing to fight in war)

we blame everyone and everything but our own culture and values

its not about understanding finances, I doubt the majority of voters since Americas foundation had a very clear understanding of that and certainly in this day and age when there are so many living with 'credit' cards

its about an alleged right to be represented,, and that should even include those who are in need and those who may not be finance experts,,,

Exactly how much "right to be represented" do the illegals have after they violate the law to enter this country?

those adults who knowingly and intentionally enter illegally should have no legal standing here

Why does Obama choose to represent "those adults who knowingly and intentionally enter illegally should have no legal standing here" over the best interests of the citizens of the US if not to try to bolster the voting ranks of Democrats at extreme financial cost to the country?

to my knowledge he doesn't,, he represents those who were brought here in their youth, without incidents, and want to remain

not a lot different than the REVERED Reagan tried to do when he was in office,,,

There is a HUGE difference! Reagan worked WITH congress who has the power over immigration. Congress is against Obama's plan.

which is ...

"The proposed immigration amnesty would benefit the 12 to 20 million undocumented aliens (illegal immigrants) currently living in the United States. An amnesty for illegal aliens forgives their acts of illegal immigration and implicitly forgives other related illegal acts such as driving and working with false documents. The result of an amnesty is that large numbers of foreigners who illegally gained entry into the United States are rewarded with legal status (Green Card) for breaking immigration laws.

The United States has granted amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants through different amnesty and laws. Before the first amnesty in 1986, amnesty was only given on a case by cases basis. Amnesty was never given to a large group of individuals. The first (and supposedly one-time only) amnesty in 1986 gave about 2.8 million illegal immigrations the opportunity to change their status through the Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA)."

Reagan stated later that his approval was a mistake.

You could not be more wrong Harmony...

The differences are as follows....There is no clear path to legislative relief for the class of beneficiaries for which Obama's order would provide relief...ALSO, the number of eligible illegals is substantially different...2.5 million then compared to potentially 11.3 million now...ANOTHER difference is this president's use of executive action...YET ANOTHER difference is this, the intent of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 was to tighten border security to stem the flow of illegals and to place sanctions on employers who continued to hire undocumented immigrants...Instead, undocumented immigration exploded from 5 million then to over 20 million now....So THE POINT is not which party started it, THE POINT is not skin color, THE POINT is not who is doing it now....THE POINT IS we now know that mass amnesty doesn't work...And if you want to take off the gloves and fight clean, the truth is Reagan's signature on that bill in 1986 is what got your boy elected in 2008 making it abundantly clear to anyone with half a brain that Obama's immigration policies are purely political, nothing more than a Democratic Party Voter Registration Drive...Once again Obama chits on my country....

yes, and now that the numbers have grown,, the alternatives offered by the republicans are,,,,what?

the do nothing politicians critiquing and cutting down any idea that isn't theres, so busy doing so that they have no ideas

and time will tell whether doing NOTHING would have been the better choice

and in spite , Reagan is still hero to many

and Obama is just 'chitting' on 'the country,,,
