I'd prefer to think of it as open minded exploration of and adapting to the current situation and interaction than what is implied in "they figure it out."
That implies I know the only way to my own bliss, that sexual fun/joy/gratification is an absolute path that I know, and they have to train themselves to be what I want them to be to make me happy, or I am distant or removed from the interaction testing them to see if they can conform to me.
