Topic: Romance.....a thing of the past ??? | |
---|---|
A date used to be such a special event where a man and a woman spent time and enjoying the fun of getting to know each other.
Now it seems like dating is in fast-forward to me. Romance to me is taking the time and a little extra effort to pay attention to things the other person will like. From what I have heard on here it is trying to meet as many people as possible as cheaply as possible and then on to the next one. No romance anymore.......what a shame...... What do you think? |
|
|
|
I don't really see it that way but I can understand what you're saying.

Uneekn...
I've never met anyone from this site. I can only tell you my experience from other dating sites. As terrible as this sounds, the majority of men want SEX...that's all. They don't want to take you to the movies, or out to dinner...or anything like that. I've given up the other dating sites. I'm so digusted with men that just want to meet at a hotel and get LAID!!! |

I know for me ..... I want to be romanced.... to laugh.... to get to know the person as a friend.... to have that butterfly feeling for a long time.... am I too much of a dreamer? Sighs....
|

Nope, we all want that but we live in a world of instant gratification, unfortunately. I love the butterflies!

I agree..... remain very much at an arms length and then get a background check! (especially for women......) Don't believe half of what you read and 90 percent of what you hear. It is unfortunate.... but has become the way of the world. WHat happened to the days where the men would stand even if their child's governess would walk into a room? LOL!! I know a lot of women these days don't act like ladies anymore..... but there are some good ones left. Just be careful. (especially ones that seem so desperate to meet you and "hook up". If someone has won your trust enough... meet them in a very public place in a friend's car. (even have a friend drop you off and pick you up) Make sure they have no clue where you live or follow you home either.
Background checks will solve a lot of those issues. I don't want anyone here to become anyone's victim. There are some good one's out there.... I just haven't found many. God bless and take care, Angela |

Uneeknrare, I completely understand what you're saying. It seems like the days where a man would take time and stimulate your mind are long gone. Like Puffins1958 said in her reply, A LOT (not all) of men seem to be more into trying to jump your bones instead of really getting to know you. I do know that there are some good ones out there, so don't let the men who aren't worth your time keep you from discovering a man who is. To all the ladies and gentlemen on the site, I wish you the best of luck in your search! Take care. =) |

I feel like we are all out for coffee and you women are having bonding time with me... thanks for taking time to share with me.... smiles....

Romance is just a dream for me...i'm guessing i'm going to stay single forever since everyone i date want touse me or hurt me.

The finger can't just be pointed at men for this. Both sexes want to just jump into the sack, have fun, and move on.
I picked up a bad habit after being online for 8 years that I began to talk the way I was talked to. I almost lost someone over this, and he opened my eyes, said show me the real you. Whether we remain just friends or take another path, I do know this. I will always be thankful that he got me to open my eyes, and realize that there are still people out there that want to know the true you. |

well all i have to say if thats the way you feel then maybe your looking at the wrong kind of guys cause everything i read here describes all my friends and we are all single strange huh. i think its because we are nice women dont even notice what we do or what we say. most women i have observed only notice the muscular loud mouth that must have attention to boost his ego. I have seen lots of gentlemen on this site and i think anyone of them would be a great catch. but i also notice they are the ones who have been single for the longest. I guess you could say this topic is a two sided sword it cuts both ways.

You know, I don't really think romance is dead, I think a lot of men are intimidated by it. They think it's all the champagne, roses, candlelight dinner thing, expensive weekends away kind of thing. When, in my opinion, romance is really a small gesture to show they're thinking of you and are concerned with your well-being. Yes, the big grand things are nice but it's the little things, I think, that count more. Things like calling just to say they're thinking of you, putting a note in your purse for you to find later, telling you they'll deal with dinner or the kids so you can relax a little. It's really just being thoughtful and being thoughtful once a year on your birthday or does NOT count!

that could be covington but the ones i've chatted with either want one thing or more then one person....not sure what they want

I keep very few friends on here. The ones I do have I talk to on a regular basis. I like the people I have on my friends list. I Weed through it once in a while and cut the people that don't want to talk anymore. I have some people I have talked with for months now. So let's not jump on all us guys. There are alot of undisirable women out there also...

I am not knocking all men.... I know of and have heard of the rare ones....sighs.... I know they are out there.... smiles... I have not given up!!!

am i one of them?

And you're all right, the romance does cut both ways. Women are just as guilty as being unromantic and unfocused as men are.

I agree with Suz.........romance shouldnt be just on certain occasions, its the little things that count.
Making a special meal, that you both enjoy......light some candles, put on some music, and just enjoy Placing a note in his/her lunch or even getting up a little early to make sure that they have a lunch to look forward to instead of a fast food lunch. Taking the time to sit, talk to each other, exchanging thoughts of the day, then snuggling up watching a movie or sports show that together..... |
