My day sucked!!!One of my workers ran a jack down the
side of one my customers cars today.(We just finished it)
Its got a tangerine cream pearl paint job!(6000)in materials
Over(500)hours.At 175 an hour do the math!!!!!!!No patchwork on this one the color can never be matched.So it has to be stripped and repainted!(F!CK!)

So heres where you come in!!!!!
Im leaving it up to you the people of JSH to decide if he stays or i fire his ass!!!!!
Hes worked for me now over 7 months.Second time screawin something up.He just wasnt careful.Hes single so no family or kids.
So put yourself in my place and tell me what you would do!!!!

He was bringing a floor jack around the car to put the new rims and tires on it.
Well while he was pulling it he wasnt paying attention and scraped the jack down the side of the car!!

hmmmmm I think you need to sit this guy down and explain what he has done.....maybe he is careless which he is....is he a good worker otherwise??? people make mistakes....

his personal matters should not enter into it. cannot afford to have carelessness in the workplace...dump his butt in the morning...been there done that

when I was still in the business world, I found it easy to say bye bye if an employee cost me money more than once, just by not being careful about what they did.

let him go, but with tact....perhaps make it known that in a job like yours, that details are of the utmost importance...(obviously, not paying attention, would fit here)...something like that...maybe it will wake him up to that fact, if he wishes to pursue along the lines somewhere else

See ive never fired anybody!!!!!!

Not trying to be a contrarian, but if everybody got fired after making two mistakes, damn few of us would have jobs. Imagine the shoe on the other foot, and all that good stuff....

I'm not sure I would keep him either. How many chances are you going to give him?? How many times does he have to SCREW up before you stop giving him chances? Everytime it happens...it cost YOU...time and $$$$$...not him obviously. He just works for you.

Just my 2 cents worth....

Doing custom work like that, mistakes are to costly.
People not knowledgeable about the process & cost, don't understand.
Customer will be twice as picky & ***** about the extra time.
Employeer has to eat it all, there goes most if not all the profit.

In business you can only take .01 from a dollar of profit to payback mistakes & lost dollars. Do the math on what this carelessness cost.
