One of my classmates proposed to her boyfriend. It's not something I'd ever do, because I think that's the guy's role, but to each his/her own.

I have seen it happen.
And so goes the relationship.

Its not traditional for a lady to do so.

I agree about it just being traditional for the guy to propose, marriage is steeped in tradition; if the guy never asked me, we just wouldn't get married, because I would never break tradition by asking him.

Yes, exactly, I would assume he wasn't interested. The woman I mentioned who proposed to her bf also provided her own engagement ring. It was her grandmothers. Again, to each their own, but soooo not something I would be happy doing.

My understanding is that ladies can pop the question during a leap year, on 29th February only, but I could be wrong.

at least she wore the ring, yes? or did she make the bf wear it?

She wore it. But I did wonder if he should have gotten some sort of ring, since technically he's the one who was proposed to....

The man is supposed to worship his wife and praise her. Getting down on one knee is symbolic of that.

I thought about this when I read what the OP said.

Imagine:

A girl, going down on one knee, proposing to a guy, showing herself the ring and putting it on her finger. :D

Nice REDLACE visual is odd.

And who is this that asked this most ridiculous question to begin with? Its a joke right? Ahhhh, I get it now. Forgive me, I'm a little slow right now. The medical stuff is the bomb!

Anyway, grow a pair, be man! If she asks you, you might as well say goodbye to ever wanting to watch what u want on the flat screen. That's right, say goodbye to football on Sunday and say hello to the Kardashions!

I just checked u out red lace!
To say I'm interested is an understatement.
When u come to LA, do look me up.

Equality ladies, equality, no more woman's role, man's role, we are all equal, chivalry notwithstanding.
There are no reasons in my opinion why a woman cannot go down on one knee to propose and put the ring on his finger, if he says yes.
Perhaps it is a good way to start as you mean to go on, by looking after your man and offering him a life of happiness, you know it makes sense.

Reading the OP he hasn't got anything going with one specific person, but there are several women that according to him fancy him.
How can you expect any of them to propose if you don't even have a relationship? I got lots of men fancying me, doesn't mean they want to marry me or want a relationship with me, nor that I want that with them.
Rather presumptuous.
I suggest you first find that special someone before worrying about getting married.

As for women proposing in general, I'm with KLC and Painte:
for me, its more about personality type. I want to be with an assertive man. If he refuses to ask me, then he is not my match. If I knew he were the refusing type, I would take it as a sign that hes just not into me and split.

A guy too shy to propose, is not the right guy for me. I want a man with baws. Sometimes we all go the extra mile for the one we truly love, even if it makes us feel insecure or shy.

I never have gotten why the proposal thing is so difficult for guys.

Don't you already have to pretty much know your girlfriend is going to say yes before you ask her?

Isn't doing a cool proposal just as much your shot to be the hero to her and her family/friends saying what you want?

I mean you buy some rock and her family pays for the wedding. Not many times you get to invite someone to a party at their expense. lol

Since now days most couples are already sleeping together and often living together when proposals occur would kind of guess it kind of goes like this...

Are we gonna?

Are we gonna what?

You know.

Only if we are gonna do you know?

Ok.

OK.

An few minutes later ...Mom/BFF on phone.." OMG HE ask me!!! We are getting married !!! lol

are you talking about a marriage proposal, or what we call "making the first move?" I don;t think it matters who does either. I think it does go better if the man makes the first move as far as asking for a phone # or such. But a woman may have chatted him up first. w/e
