We have this storm surge, Scotland hit badly, UK and Holland as well.
Weather condition are the same as in '53 when we had an awful flood, many ppl died and the county I currently live in, got totally flooded, as well as big parts of other counties.
Now the conditions are the same, awful storm & spring tide.
Highest water levels will be expected around 3-4 AM, which is 2 - 3 AM in the UK. So we're not out of the woods yet. Areas in the UK been evacuated.

Now the storm is real bad. I accidentally noticed my fencing had come loose from it's brackets, it just got ripped off the screws noway And it was about to go. So I panicked ...
Asked a neighbour for help, he tied it up for now, hopefully it'll hold, but I have serious doubt.
For the first time in my life I have phoned 112 (alarm nr) to ask advice.
Advice: stay indoors. If it goes, it goes, it will be cleaned up tomorrow. Great. So there might be fencing of 1.80 x 1.80 meter flying through the air? What a wonderful idea!

I'm totally freaked out, don't think I will sleep much tonight tears tears

There's lorries been blown all over the place and accidents galore in Scotland, today. My phone has been glowing red hot since I came in from work also. So I have an idea what you're facing? I would dismantle the sections and take them into the garage ( if you have one ) or store them inside? It will lessen the damage greatly, than if the wind just destroys it through the night and wakes you up?

Yeah maybe, that's one of the options the fire brigade mentioned as well. But mainly their advice was to stay indoors, they don't even go out themselves unless they have to. So it's kind of like, do you take the risk or not? A number of screw heads have been f** (my doing, lol) so it won't be easy to take it down and with this wind, I can't do that on my own either.
Just gonna keep my fingers crossed and pray for the best.

Was thinking of you today and tonight as I heard Scotland got battered too. Thank god you're okay!
Wind seems to be a bit less at the mo, fingers crossed it'll stay that way.
And fingers crossed the west coast of the UK is going to be okay too.
I hate this friggin' chit. THese are them days I wished I lived inlands again instead of this close to the coast :s

Aye and it's Arctic weather thats blowing down from tonight! Minus 9, in places here and it's heading south? So you'll be getting that too! I thought you had a neighbour that could've gave you a hand to dismantle the fence? Is the fence posts on your fence been post-creted in, or have they just been knocked into the ground?

Kik, i'm 6ft 1 and 220lbs and was getting blown about like a pair of tracksuit bottoms, on a washing line, all day. Not much work done today, because of it all. Mad!

CrystalFairy and Larsson - please stay safe.
It's amazing how much power the wind has. Stay indoors and stay warm and safe.

I will send you both some prayers and good thoughts.
May God keep you both safe.

Thank you all ...
Wind isn't as mad as couple hours ago, although still get these gusts.
I'm a tad calmer now, close to panic-modulus before.

Larsson, the poles been knocked in the ground in these aluminum pointy things, which go some 80- 90 cm (approx a yard) into the ground. Then the pole gets screwed into the 'socket'.
The top of the fence was screwed to the pole with a steel bracket, that had come loose :S
I'll have to sort it out tomorrow, hope it'll work out, as tomorrow we'll still have 6 Bt.
We shouldn't get temps below zero, inland around 0 C, here slightly above. Scotland is always a lot colder than Holland.

I guess the ppl that were born and raised here feel like "another day in Zeeland" (name of the county). I wasn't born and raised here, so it's not my idea of normal, not used to it either. And I really really really don't like this chit!

Highest sea-level is expected to be 3.6 meters above normal sea-level, which is nice, as over half of Holland, including my county, is way below normal sea level as it is. So adding another 3.6 meters to it is just great! laugh
Oh well, we have storm barriers and all of those and all the dykes will be guarded all through the night.

Nope mate, I play ball and it's a free quote! I do the job and I do it right. Anyone who works for me has to have that same work ethic, or they don't work for me Pony, simple as! Most of my work has come by word of mouth, because I do the job right and don't rip people off!

I woke up at 5am lastnight, and heard tree's and fence's falling down. At first I thought a neighbour was being ridiculous by slamming a door on purpose. Then I heard the wind howling. Today I saw hail stone's at around 1:40pm I think it was. I hope my gran and grandad are okay, because their road got closed off. It's midnight right now, so I'll phone them later. Just to check. I've been recording people in my area phoning into the local radio station, so that I can upload it to Youtube, as it happened. A bit of history in one recording. lol

pretty horrible, huh.

Over here the wind seems to be picking up again, grmble ...
I guess we're headed for the worst bit when it comes to high water levels... another hour and a half-ish
I was so glad the wind had died down a little bit. Was actually getting ready for bed, now I feel uncomfortable about it again.

Hope you gonna be okay as well!
