Not everything needs logic. The world is built upon absurdity and heart. And where they come from is not nearly as important as the fact we have them.

Love is not only made for lovers!

true frnds.
A true frnd can love more than

where as logical people may have surprising thoughts.

My penis doesn't actually care if there is logic to feeling.

Really...neither do I...If my penis is happy...Why would I care what anyone else thinks?

Mostly hormone based. Different parts of the brain are involved, depending on what type of feeling you're talking about.
Feelings are very important, at first needed to survive: getting angry, upset when we aren't fed or in pain (baby), creating a bond with the mother so she will take care of you.
How you feel, react to certain situation/ppl etc also depends on your life experiences.

I am an artist of a few different mediums. Conveying a feeling whether through visual art like my pictures or audio art like music. Feelings are an expression of ones inner self or soul. We label them with adjectives to help describe the indescribable and to add logical explanation to the illogical or intangible.

You are right.

Interesting that when you want to talk about intuition, inner self, Higher Self, the soul and so on, ppl tend to come up with a rational, scientific approach. Yet if you ask for an logical explanation, ppl come up with a spiritual one and/or tell you you shouldn't want a logical explanation?

I beg to differ with the two of you. I am intuitive, spiritual, an energy worker, also an artist (music, painting and so on). I do, however, also take an interest in the human body and science.
These two (science and spirituality) have - deliberately - been separated for yonks, but there are huge overlaps --> the playground that is nicely covered by quantum physics.
But I digress...

The human body is still the most sophisticated 'machine' known to us. And yes, feelings seem to be very elusive, but if you read up on it, there are very good explanations as to how they are generated and why.
Maybe we don't know exactly how it all works, not yet. But the fact there is a logical/physical explanation for being able to generate feelings, doesn't make the feelings any less beautiful! If only more ppl realized what a marvelous, delicate and beautiful "machine" the human body is!

Did you know for instance, that our cells have a memory of their own? And lots of things (i.e. traumatic experiences) are stored in them? So sometime you get ill, no one can explain why or what's going on. Yet, if you were to get the cell memory fixed, chances are you would heal.

Feelings have a purpose: feeling hungry --> keep the 'engine' running and the machine healthy. Feeling fear --> survival, escaping from danger. Feeling love --> procreation, but also not being alone. Chances of surviving are higher when not alone.
And so on and so forth.

They are just chemicals.

Ripped from some googled page:

phenylethylamine or PEA - This is an amine that naturally occurs in the brain and also in some foods, such as chocolate. It is a stimulant, much like an amphetamine, that causes the release of norepinephrine and dopamine. This chemical is found when you are falling in love. It's responsible for the head-over-heels, elated part of love.

norepinephrine - When PEA causes this chemical to be released, you feel the effects in the form of sweaty palms and a pounding heart.
dopamine - Dopamine is a neurochemical that appears to be associated with mate selection. An Emory University study found that voles (a type of rodent) chose their mate based on dopamine release. When female voles were injected with dopamine in the presence of a male vole, they could select him from a group of voles later.

oxytocin - Dopamine triggers the release of oxytocin, which is sometimes called the 'cuddle hormone'. In both genders, oxytocin is released during touching. In women, oxytocin is released during labor and breast feeding.
testosterone - Though you might think of testosterone as a male hormone, both men and women produce it. Raw lust is accompanied by a surge in testosterone levels.

endorphins - Your brain acquires a tolerance to the love stimulants and starts to release endorphins. The honeymoon is over, chemically, around 18 months to 4 years into a relationship. However, this isn't all bad. Endorphins are associated with feelings of attachment and comfort. Endorphins are like opiates. They calm anxiety, relieve pain and reduce stress.

there is no logic to feelings

The above-quoted statement is not correct.

It is logical to feel fear if one is in danger of being physically harmed.

It is logical to feel anger if someone cheats on you.

i reread dodo answer,,,,,i need to clarify what this is,,,,,,, these are the feelings,,,,MAD,,,SAD,,, GLAD,,,AND SCARED........FEAR the way you used it comes from the reptilian brain at the base its the fight or flight used for survival ...you said its logical to fear anger when someone cheats,,,,then why is it i have talked to so many woman there first reaction was the pain of sadness.....feelings come from the child in us.........the problems we are having come from a wounded child...........how many times have you observed a adult behaving like a child? ''heal the child, heal the person''.................i'm done..................
