I look at a profile in this order,
and stop looking if it's bad news:

Height (yes, I am shallow that way)
Age
Picture
Location
If I am still reading, I peruse the
profile description.

If I laugh out loud, that is a
good thing..mostly :-)

Being tall is a plus with me. I like to dance more with a gal that I don't have to bend over for.

I've seen photos of women that look like they're setting themselves for old age. Come on now, hitting the half century mark does not mean that you must start looking like your grandmother.

Having a gripefest about players, guys that are trying to get into your pants, big zero's, one night stands, and basement dwellers are stoppers for me.

Four sentance descriptions of yourself doesn't get it with me. If you can sound like you're describing yourself to me, face to face, is a big plus. If you're really into something specific, like being a health nut, or saving the planet, fine. I'd like to know this before we waste our time messaging one another. You are trying to sell yourself to other prospective mates. If it requires you to do your profile over a peroid of a couple hours, write it on notepad offline, and do a cut and paste when you do get online. It do allow you to think about it.

I'll sit and read a long profile, and sometimes study on it. Seems to me we're all searching for prospective mates. It may just be me, but I'd like to know what I might be getting myself into.

I havent been inspired by a profile to send an email, but then I am not one to make first moves towards men anyway

I think though, that IM inspired to respond to emails when I see some sign of emotional maturity and intelligence in the persons posts, or messages,,,,,,,,and more likely to take an interest when they are single parents, or seem to have a healthy respect for family relationships and women in general,,,,

I once read the profile of a magic carpet dealer. It was fun and witty and I just had to know if the author was anything like his profile...and he is. smitten

I only look at those with photos, if I am attracted then I look at their profile for some common interests before I send an email, and I look for someone close to home.
