Would you want a pilot who was arrested for domestic violence involving a gun to fly the plane you are on? Would you be comfortable if he could carry a fire arm on board?

If I were thousands of feet above ground and some maniac was going to hijack or blow up the plane I could care less about any ones record who was going to save me and the rest of the messengers!

Jack
I take that to mean, a domestic abuser is not a maniac and violence on the ground is different than violence in the air?

But if the 'maniac' decides that he has had enough crap at home, he decides to join the hijacker...you may end up landing in a whole new destination and what if you like it there?laugh

I've known people who were arrested for domestic violence who were completely innocent of the charge. Was this man found to be guilty?

I don't want to stand next to a man guilty of domestic violence in the grocery store, so if he has a violent temper and a gun, I would rather he not be on my plane at all, let alone piloting it.

There are others better suited for his job who can carry the gun with a level head.

Also consider the fact that there are more opportunities in the air for a bad tempered or unstable pilot with a gun to snap at a passenger, than there are opportunities for him to protect passengers from a hijacker.

If this guy is going to be an armed pilot, I say give him a tazer.

Yes if he was a good pilot and knew his position well. There are probably many pilots that have made mistakes in their past and have some kind of records out there, you just never know.

I deactivated my account because the response to this is disturbing. I suppose one has to have a gun pointed to the face to understand the fear.
I am glad you don't know what that feels like.

I do know what it feels like.

My question is, what is the reasoning of using a pilot over say... a tow truck operator, security guards and even the police? You are more likely to encounter any of them for example having a bad day over a pilot (unless you fly a lot).

Also arrested does not mean conviction, it just means arrest. Which as someone stated could mean they are innocent. Also, I believe if they ARE convicted they are banned from owning a firearm anyway.

To answer the spirit of the question though, no I would not like someone like that flying the plane I was on if they were guilty of violence, but I would (and am) more concerned with the ones on the street I am more likely to run afoul of who are.

I know all too well what it feels like for someone to be shooting at you, in a non-friendly way.

Id rather not know anything but how good of a pilot they have been

if I MUST know their personal background, Id need more details about the circumstances of the violence, the age at the time, if it was one time, recurring,,etc,,

people mess up, especially in domestic situations,,,,

Hell yeah if someone highjacked the plane you would know that the pilot would not have a issue using his weapon if needed...whoa

But that is just a speculation since there is no way that a pilot that was arrested for domestic violence with a gun, would be allowed to fly a plane. First of all that is up to a 10 year sentence....at the least probation. Which in fact would cost a pilot his licenses and no longer to fly. If I'm correct he would loose his firearm licenses as well.....bigsmile

But then when you think about it it could have been possibly that his partner pulled a knife on them and they were protecting themselves. But then the partner told the cops he shoved them. Which even if he did just to get the other out of their face they could still be arrested for domestic violence. But falsely accused and yes I know someone that happened too well without the gun. Therefore if they were cleared and just happen to be a pilot this could happen.....and I would still say yes......

Can he fly the plane and if he's got a bit of a "chip" all the better than to have some passive pilot that may choke if the situation accrued, so the more bad *** the better.

Keep in mind that there's generally 3 or 4 hijackers so the tazer would not work, a knife and guns
would be more ideal.

If this pilot decides to "go postal " , then he "goes postal" he will kill us all or land & take his own life,
so I see the gun as I positive thing here.grumble

The quiet introvert (the one that flys under the radars) now thats the one you've got to watch!

The OP HERE ?Now that scary!...."its my ball and i'm going home ! YA, THE MOON....your... "BOMBED"!!explode !!

And if you had such chargers, you wouldn't be a loud to be in possession of weapons, and no weapon
No job, if that was a requirement for employment.

I cant get hired to some jobs because my bad credit poses too much of a 'temptation towards theft'

I cant imagine that anyone in a position that holds livss in the balance could be hired with a violent background especially armed,,,

There's old pilots

and there's bold pilots

but there aren't any old bold pilots,

Then Scullenburger (Skully) came along

Now that guys my new Hero, to calculate his only other option based on speed altitude and distance

in under 10 seconds (co pilot) to realize its not an option but the Hutson River was.

May add, that is the only full size jet that i've ever seen hit the water and not rip into pieces.

The ultimate thinkerthink

Now thats bad ***!!!:
