Banannas at my store are $0.79 per pound, when they on sale. Milk is a little more then $3.00 per gallon.
Apples are kind of expensive.
Bread is under $2.50

I might be the location too but at my store they also have a bottle return machine so that can make things a little bit cheaper too and it can work with the food card too.

 WE ARE ALL IMPERFECT, so PEOPLE will always "NOT" buy the right things that ANOTHER see's fit, BUT,,,,"THAT" does NOT mean that the reasoning for it was their own conviction to their children, EVERYONE will try to PLEASE their kids at HOME, and IN STORES, so MOMMY I WANT,,,THEY WILL GET!!! From SOME MOM'S...bigsmile
I think that DRUGS, and MOM'S and DAD'S on THEM, would be a better complant as to the quality life they DON'T GIVE THEIR CHILDREN,
as to complaining on their treats or how the money comes into a loving home.
Just my thoughts!

"adj4u" not unless you walk on the side of the road collecting them because people don't care about saving some money or the enviroment so more power to those who take them in.

Isn't it interesting that food choices are only open to criticism for those that are dependent on government assistance?

ya know what.. I work 40-60 hrs a week.. during that time in which at any time .. i can be randomly picked for a drug test.. if I FAIL I LOSE MY JOB the job in WHICH I PAY a % to the LESS FORTUNATE . for food stamps welfare..etc so I THINK ANYONE who gets food stamps or welcome should have to TAKE A DRUG screening and pass .. if they fail .. they lose their WELFARE and food stamps... how bout you .. you all feel the same??? no matter whether they buy gum or meat.. they should lose it if THEY cant pass the same test i am required to take at any given time

and who is watching the kids while they are out collecting them

if they are able to go collect them

or should they drag them out along the side of the road picking them up

then people would say that they are endangering their children

I can pass any drug test you put in front of me, food stamps or not. But I am on several perscription medications, that I would gladly admit to at that time if the need ever arose.
If it is the people who are on the different kinds of help, food stamps, or whatever it may be that tries to defend themselves, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE it is because they feel threatened. I save the cans we drink out of, and it has bought us many gallons of milk or other things we needed in months we would have done with out otherwise. But I do not go out can hunting.
I just bought a gallon of 2% milk today, it was $2.89
plain white bread I paid .59 a loaf
Just so you know a couple of prices from where I live.

My son and I both have weight problems, whole milk has more fat then 2%. And I am used to drinking 2%.
