Topic: I have a great question about the Bridge/Food cards? | |

two of my children can't gain. i finally have my four-year-old up to 32 pounds...i add heavy whipping cream to her foods, and try very hard to make certain that she has a carb-rich diet.

I guess that it also depends alot on where you live.
I shop at grocery outlets. There I can push out 2 carts full of groceries for about $110.00. Then I shop at breadstores, and I can get 4 or 5 loaves of bread for around $3.45. It all depends on where you shop and how you stretch your money. |

well now that all have felt a need to justify themselves
get off yer high horse and worry about your own life and leave everyone else be if ya do not like people on food stamps remember the old adage if ya have nothing good to say shut the h--- up |

I totally understand your reasoning. As a child I was very thin. My whole neighborhood was always feeding me, guess they all thought I was starving or something. I guess eating a lot throughout the day even then became a habit. But with me now, it's more of a depression thing. And a part of it is genes, all the women in my family are heavy.

Very true Fine, if there are stores available that are competative in prices, then the consumer can sometimes snare the bargains.
When isolated, or living in small towns, consumers are more at the mercy of the pricing index set down by their store owners... Each case is individual I feel, each person has a right to eat, even if they may be challenged financially, and to have access to affordable healthy food, would be the ideal. |

Hey Jess, long time hun
Miss you I hope you are well |

my youngest was born hypotonic...her muscles don't react as fast as yours and mine. she'll never have enough muscle tone...and that's accepted.
i follow her pediatrician's guidelines...and pediasure is damned expensive. |
|
|
|
lulu~~
How do you get her to drink pediasure? My kids would not touch it. They thought it was nasty. |
|
|
|
haha! i cheat!
i blend it with a banana and granola. |

I feel for you lulu. I have never heard of your daughters condition, but I am sure it is hard non the less.
My son is just the opposit. He is 20 years old, is 6 foot tall, and weighed 325 the last time he was weighed. He is termed as mentally retarded, mild to moderate. Most all his family has died of a heart attack. His grandparents on his dad's side, my mom, and even his dad, he died at a young age. Now my son is convinced that he will die an early death as well. It's hard and I don't know what to do with him anymore, it's like he just don't understand it. To make it worse, he won't listen to me on the subject anymore. Being low income doesn't help anything either, but I'm not complaining. I still have him with me, that's more important to me then anything else. |

nah, don't feel for me...she's the best thing that's ever happened to me.
she carries pure joy with her...to everyone she meets. |

Hi Fine, life is busy, and it's nice to have a moment free to catch up with others here.

I'm sure she does, as my son does for me as well.
I meant more the things like I have to keep on him to drink diet when he wants regular. Things like that. |
|
|
|
Take care Jess
always wonder how your doing. stay safe sweetie |

i control every aspect of her diet. every thing she takes in has to be thickened to AT LEAST nectar consistency. this means no watermelon, no fresh fruits (because of the juices) without them being blended with thickener, no soups, no regular drinks...
all foods have to be soft, yet not of the type to stick to the roof of her mouth. that eliminates most breads, peanut butter...that sort of thing. pastas work well. she has to eat slowly, seated. she's allowed one bite at a time, and must swallow fully before taking the next. food and drink do NOT go together. |

sounds like you should be commended on your motherhood lulu

nah...food's just one aspect of the whole picture.
i might be...beating them and whoring them out and such. |
|
|

I think I have heard of something like that before, not sure if it was the same thing or not though.
How old is your daughter? My son will be 21 in December, and he is bigger then me. |
