I can't back track far for several reasons.. 1-it was along a tree line that's 2km+ long.. 2- the trees divide 2 huge agricultural fields(uneven ground).. 3-the recent weather conditions alter the integrity of the land(thaw, freeze, thaw etc) and 4-one of the fields is filled with migrating ducks that I don't want to upset/scare(as long as they stay put.. they're off limits to the hunters )..

howdy peeps 'tis HUMP day.. YAY almost there day

had a wonderful lil adventure today.. as always
I got up very early this morning and feeling quite energetic, decided to take a nice LONG walk so as I was driving the 1/2 mile to my fave spot, I noticed a small animal on the road, I pulled over and put on my 4-ways and approached it slowly.. I prodded it gently with my cane to see how it would react.. when it didn't I stooped down to try to pick it up (gloves on of course).. poor thing was TERRIFIED.. it was a Ferret.. cutest lil guy.. young'en too.. not more than a year old I'd say.. anywho.. I noticed a few drops of blood on the ground but he didn't seem to have any cuts.. he let me scoop him up (yeah.. it was a boy lol) and walk him gently over to the roadside.. I placed him down but he was shaking something fierce every time a car whooshed by so I picked him up again and walked him down the slope into the forest.. I left him curled and huddled at the base of a tree then headed back to my truck.. of course I had slowed traffic down a bit but hey.. I needed to make sure the lil guy was secure before I mosey'd on..

I got back to the truck and parked further up the road and took my walk with the dog.. not as long as I could have, because the lil critter was pulling on my heart strings to go take care of it.. I jumped back in the truck and dropped the dog off at home.. picked up an empty box and an old blanket and headed back out.. the lil guy was right where I'd left him.. I managed to recapture him again and he curled up in my hand while I took him back to the box in the truck.. I didn't take a pic (tupid me LOL) but he was SO adorable.. I couldn't resist.. after I got back into the truck I called my Vet.. he said there wasn't much anyone could do for this type of 'exotic' animal and that because he was wild well.. even LESS they could do.. knowing who I am and HOW I am with animals.. he suggest I take him in, keep him warm and attempt to feed him Gaterade ICE.. .. apparently something about the contents mimics that of restorative type solution.. so I did, but not before stopping by my youngest to get help.. they were busy with the baby but did come by about an hour later to try and help.. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELlllllllll the lil bugger had gotten out of the box, was wrecking havoc with the cat and dog but I DID manage to get him out of the house before TOO much stuff got broken that was fun anywho.. the kids arrived moments later and tried catching him(outside) with the top of an old rabbit cage.. we were slipping and sliding in the mud.. but the kids were laughing and having fun.. finally I grabbed him again and after comically trying to keep in him my arms.. let him go out in the back 40, close to the tree line, where he'd be safe AND on his way.. I guess the car just stunned him.. PHEW though.. what a Morning

I poked around search some because I had seen on the news the other day of some efforts made to try and save the black footed li'l weasels. :)
~indigenous ferret to Canada (Q) query came up black footed species, only one to come up/show in the intros without clicking.
(fyi paste~ Black-footed Ferret (Mustela nigripes) went extinct in Canada in 1937)
erm~ not looking to trap ya bud~ I saw on the news the other day of folks in California trying to save the black footed ferret from extinction..so you MAY have done more than you think with your kind actions..besides exercising your domestic pals. :)
~~I won a "guess the furs" at a circa 1600's re-enactment hoe down out this-a way. "Fisher" was one nobody got the whole day..well twernt a contest really..but yeah, he said I was the only who got them all right out of say seven/eight skins.
Cute, small? Could be a fisher..if you know it to be a black footy ferret does one stay silent?
...yeah..thinks I know what yera thinking like an ET story if so. But ya never know. Powers that be may dedicate the lands you past mentioned off limits to development forever. ~hopes I ain't talking at the bar too very much. lol, indexing anudda quarter ta spin wit me thumb..

it must be black footed cuz it's the only pic I could find that looks just like the one I found.. called the governments Faun & Flora on extinct species but so far only got voice mail... I'll try again later.. it's not the only extinct species I've found in ma hood.. I've recently seen Whooping Cranes, Great Blue Herons, Black Eagles and now the Black Footed Ferret... feelin kinda special here

Ooohhhhh...now that's just the cutest lil thing i've seen all night! I'm sure he'd look good wrapped around my neck and will match well with my handbag and shoes!!

Easy on the hollandaise...but that is a definate must add to the breakfast club menu.

I'll eat anything out of the sea too...put some oysters, mussels, abalone, sea urchins or anything in a shell in front of me, and you won't hear from me till there's nothing left of it. I love seafood...and it depends on how the fish is prepared and cooked. Although there are some fish that are just a little too fishy even for me.

You're going to have to try the sea barra when you come out here Zee ;-)
