Suppose your lover of several months leaves and forgets his/her cell phone. Do you go through it, looking at photos and text messages?

Nah, why bother. It could only bring trouble.

Sometimes it is better to leave the past in the past. Plus, there is the entire privacy issue... just because someone it is not there does not mean you should go through their stuff. I would contact her and return it or just throw it away.

I agree. I've never looked at a lover's cell phone. In fact, I don't even want to touch it. But, I feel the same way about all her personal things. I'd never look inside her purse either.

I'd also be deeply offended if a lover went through my cell phone or wallet.

If you don't trust them, why are you with them?

I've had it happen to me in the past. Leaving the cell phone home, but they found nothing, however, I came to the conclusion they did not trust me and the rest is history.

No need to here. If I have an inkling of something not right I leave now. But used to turn into Sherlock Holmes when I was young to prove what I felt. I also picked some real losers so my feelings were always right.

No...I wouldn't even think about it...and that goes for her purse, billfold, jacket pockets, or anything else she may have left behind.

I think it speaks to an invasion of personal privacy and opens the door to mistrust...and that is one door i would much prefer to remain closed and locked.

I would never pick it up and explore its secrets, but if it rang, I would certainly look to see who's calling... laugh

Nope...
I was once that guy.
I choose not to be anymore.

However... if I think I'd ought to, I'd change the locks instead.

No....unless he has done something in the past to destroy the trust.
Then I look... then I realize the relationship could be at the beginning of the end.
However, I still say,(as in another post by TexasS), if you have nothing to hide, and you are after a true intimate relationship by definition...you wouldn't care if your partner looks at everything you have.

Nah, if I felt like I had to worry about her, there would be no reason for us to be together.

Im right there with you both!
It has happened in the past and I haven't decided to go the route of snooping. It sure wouldn't help in building continued trust. Which should be really important.
