Yet I bawled like a baby when my little girl was hurt and crying in pain. Very frustrating not being able to do anything, I wanted so badly to feel her pain for her...ripped my heart apart hearing her cry.

I do believe that MOST of what people believe, do , say, comes from their upbringing (family) and their environment.

Most families in western cultures do not raise boys to cry easily, but to tough it out and resolve the problem instead,,,,

In my family we were all taught it was a sign of weakness to cry, girls and boy alike. It hasn't been until recently that I've learned just how cathartic a good crying session can really be. It's almost like the tears purge the emotions that build up. Who knows? Maybe I've just become weaker with age.

I only date men who know how to keep in touch with their feminine side, so the men I've dated have always had no problem showing their true emotions.

Crying is a display of vulnerability. Vulnerability exists with a connotation of weakness in modern culture (for the most part). Being perceived as weak is rarely helpful unless it's part of a con.

Also, boys don't cry, they just listen to The Cure.

Most were raised to believe that they were not suppose to. That it meant they were weak sad for that is so wrong to teach them that... I raised my son to believe that it was okay to cry it shows one has a heart... I can't say that I have really seen too many men that I have known that did not cry at times... Sure they may not talk about it later but at times tears seems to heal the heart........

Give me one good reason why a man should cry in public.

any day you come across a man who suppresses his emotions, STAY OFF! He wouldn't have the depth to love you completely!
