The three 14,000+ foot mountains I've climbed so far, not sure if that is really "Exotic" though. Exotic makes me think something like the Amazon or something like that.

I've never been anyplace I'd call "exotic." But the most interesting place was in Los Alamos, New Mexico. I took a tour about the making of the first atomic bombs, Fat Man and Little Boy. You know, the ones we dropped on Japan?

One place I would not consider that exotic but someplace that was very enjoyable, affordable, easy to get around to various sites, and felt safe was Victoria, B.C..

Newfoundland, interesting for its lack of..anything.
Plane had engine trouble so we landed there, huge
hangars, duty-free goodies, but ice and snow as
far as you could see, anywhere. Nice people though.

Ive never been anywhere "exotic" either, although i would love too. :) Colorado is the most beautiful place i have been & lived at. Nothing like a log cabin & looking out your window sits very gigantic snow capped beautiful Mountains. Breath taking in my eyes. :)

What a beautiful place Victoria is. I wish I could afford to retire there. sigh.

I went to Africa and Thailand which I found very fascinating. I also lived in Europe for 4 years which I found very educational. I enjoyed the Bahamas, Peurto Rico, Hawaii, Bermuda, Jamacai, and Mexico. Still Africa stands out as the best in my memories.

exotic?
Cayman Islands-their coral reefs are amazing under water

Jamaica-their speed bumps are called sleeping policemen.. steer clear from the real cops though

St. Thomas(Virgin Islands) - they have iguanas the size of small horses surprised AND they have the right-of-way.. but very nice people and reasonable prices

Dom.Republic-gorgeous beaches where they offer their 10-14yr old kids as 'secretaries' for $10/day snorkeling on the coral reefs a blast too

Cuba-nice beaches-great prices and lots of nice country to explore.. people are amazingly helpful and kind too.. rum is VERY cheap but cigars not so much..swimming with the dolphins is AWEsome

Puerto Rico- quiet place if I recall.. but great casino's if that's your bag

Mexico-gorgeous beaches and lotsa history(mayan) and cheap booze

Egypt-great dunes for buggys(had a blast) and camel caravans woohoo.. but having to be guarded by machine gun toting military kinda takes a bit away from the experience

Valetta Malta-tons of history and marvelous scenery.. warm, inviting people.. definite place of interest to return

Greece (Athens) - lots of history here too.. warm 'n friendly people, easy on the pocketbook

Italy (Rome) - again TONS of history.. people not so warm.. and pretty costly

Turkey(Izmir) - quiet little place, although when I was there the natives seemed extremely restless..

Barcelona (Spain) - nice people, warm culture.. great architecture with lots to see.. very clean city.. just watch out for dog pooh.. that's the ONLY thing they DON'T pick up.. whoa

I think that's it SO far.. I'll have more to add as time goes on though bigsmile

that's the reason I love traveling soo much..

offtopic and why I started the people of the world thread.. so I could find out valuable insightful information on other places I'd like to travel to.. and hopefully get to know some locals at the same time.. OR find 'like minded' others to travel with.. so far.. Australia's looking like a good place to go NEXT, then onto the UK and France.. WOOHOO.. I may be single.. but I ain't dead YET bigsmile

now back to our regularly scheduled thread.. smokin
