Ive been on a few dating sites testing the waters. All of which have been free (to a point)
Ive gotten my share of responses...and Ive sent out a few kisses or winks ( actual emails..I hate kisses or winks)

Im a pretty tough cookie..if you aren't interested..I can take it, a simple ." sorry, Im not interested" works for me! He is forgotten as soon as I hit the "NEXT" button.

What bothers me are the ones who say nothing.
I know I know...I should take the hint and move on! I guess Im a glutton for punishment!

Does anyone else prefer a cordial "not interested" reply, rather than the sound of crickets?

I guess that's why I kind of like the "read" check-mark in the "sent" section of my mailbox. It sort of lets me know whether I'm getting a response or not.

Of course, I've been on here long enough to know that if I haven't heard from someone in a day or two, I'm not going to hear from them. Shame really, most people tell me my "notes" are entertaining.

Maybe their mother taught them if they had nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.

I know what you mean :/ I remember back in high school I dated this really cute guy. He broke up with a girl he was him for quite some time and then he started talking to me about a month after they broke up. Well, It seemed he was interested at first because we dated for two months. Then one day I had the urge to walk through the empty hallways of school with my friends and who did I find? of course it is he and his ex holding eachother. He definitely saw me and I passed by him with an evil look in my eye. He tried to make it seem as if it was she who was the one trying to hold him or whatever. Eventually he tried to apologize for a long while and I never responded until one day I finally told him, "When I date someone, I give them a portion of my life I will never get back..so I always say do not make me regret it and unfortunately you did just that. I am done." It was stupid. I wish he could've just said hey I still have feelings for her im not ready... or something like that! So yes, I'd rather guys be blunt and tell me they aren't interested instead of wasting my time believing that they are. :]

There has been times i had over 1000 unread emails in my inbox.. not on this site but on a real dating site. Why would you take the time to write someone back your not interested in. let alone all the time and effort it would take.

I have spotted scams and just block them. A few scammers are 21, 5'8", interior designers, never married, no kids. What the hell would they find in common with an old fart like me?

You always ask really good questions! I am with you and whoever said "not interested" - isn't that the right thing to do? Not replying should only be from being too busy with life to reply. In this case, you shouldn't be on here in the first place! I relate it to buying someone a drink; ask may I buy you a drink, and you say either <your poison> or no thank you. You wouldn't just stand there and ignore him/her, so why do it digitally...
