@soufiehere

Hats off to you alot of people as you can see disagree. I never thought of all those costs it could bring .. wouldn't do it with my cell carrier.

So far these are the result ....

I've been in a couple of long distance relationships. It was harder when we were in different countries. In the end, it was a lot of investment for little return.

I would entertain the notion of one again but would want to be close enough to physically be together at least monthly...preferably someone in the same country within an eight hour drive.

LDRs can work if both people are honest and working together. If they are not, it is a heartache waiting to happen.

I have had 4 serious relationships in my life,
The first 3 lived with me and I honestly felt more alone than I have ever felt with my Husband now living 20,000 ks away.
We still share our lives, our thoughts and dreams.
We make time for each other to talk and skype as often as possible.
and we visit whenever we can.

Long distance relationships are painful, but at the same time they can be wonderful, its not what I would have chosen if I had a choice, but I surely wouldnt swap it.

Trust is the ultimate thing, if either has any doubts or any reason to doubt it can never work.

It can work sometimes. Money is a factor of course.

Well, I have to say I prefer the long distance.
For 2 years we talked 7 times a day on the phone,
he flew half a continent twice to visit for a
week+ each time.
He moved to me in August of this year.
Could not have worked any better :-)

For me the distance was a barometer of the
intensity of the connection, it tells you
a lot that someone is willing to wait, just
for you, and do whatever it takes to
make it work.

We were both willing to move to the other,
that helped.
I have to highly recommend the long-distance
relationship :-)

The point you stressed was communication. It works. Rather can work. Caring and communication work a long way if two people really want it. This is a rare example so its not out of the cards. Not too many open-minded people out there like this. Just sayin. bigsmile

Haha love the comments. Im thinking LDR can work if you are willing to take your time and invest a bit.

Side note take viagra when you get close. Driving can be a pain.

If I feel like I want to get intimate with him, then I'd much rather he be a few roads away from me, and not like 5000 miles away. Cos the last thing you want in the throws of hornyness, is something cock-blocking you. laugh

laugh. I can see how frustrating that would feel. Okay, I'd better shut up now. I've said enough on a certain subject for one night. Guess which one ;)

Sorry if you are talking to people who live in a "poorer" nation and you live in a more "prosperous" nation it IS about the greencard. As far as within the same culture.. it's doable but it takes a lot of commitment and clear communication of expectations.
