we will agree to disagree here. . .

msharmony, James Carville and Mary Matalin agree to disagree on political stuff, and they are happily married to each other. If they can do that and still love each other, then you and I can agree to disagree and still be friends. Right?

its not the agreeing or disagreeing that does the friendship in,, its the manner in which it occurs (the respect/disrespect involved)

I see the majority of what I hear from democrats as being more concerned with fair and equality for all citizens.

Republicans promote fairness and equal opportunity for all people. They want a level playing field for everyone.

Yet, equal opportunity and a level playing field don't guarantee equal results. The only way to guarantee equal results (to the best of my knowledge) is to redefine what is fair so that it is no longer fair.

we will agree to disagree here, I just dont hear that sentiment from Republican politicians in the forefront

Do you ever listen to them? Or just the spin put out by the MSM and democrats?

no, I listen

I think we have a lot of "single issue voters" today. Don't you?...This is probably a lot different from the way people voted during the Depression. Back then a lot of people were in the "same boat" and they wanted to see the country recover as a "whole." (Where jobs were plentiful for everyone!)...When the "boom years" came after World War II everyone seemed happy and grateful to see so many jobs!...Today someone who is struggling may vote for Romney and GOP candidates due to their stance on abortion or gun rights etc...Some people may vote for candidates based on their stance on immigration or support for unions etc...Everything seems mixed-up today. Don't you think? Few people look at other issues or the "bigger picture."...Many Christian churches in my area are trying to encourage their congregations to vote for Romney in "sneaky ways." (To avoid losing their tax exempt status.) I'm not sure if this is going on nationwide or not.

people will influence each other in different environments and you hit the nail on the head with how many issues are at hand in our current culture and with our current population

so many different citizens with different priorities focusing on different issues,,,,

I think some Democrats have gone overboard trying to "play nanny" through the years. Mayor Bloomberg of NYC obviously considers himself "all knowing" and "Big Papa" to everyone who lives under his "rule" and domain...But these days quite a few Republicans follow right along too. In the old days Republicans were less inclined to meddle in our private lives.

I wrote in Ron Paul last election.

I read barry's political and managerial experience.

Took all of 10 seconds to see he wasn't and still isn't qualified.

I believe in Constitutionalism.

If they don't lead according to it, they have no business being our employee.

Ya'll did know Presidents are the employee, no? He is a public servant and he sucks at doing that.

I'm pretty certain, any future presidents will be off the same roll of chitpaper.

RP is retiring but staying political activist by involvement in various groups who supported his candidacy. Who knows what 2016 will bring? He may just show everyone he's still young and strong enough to fight again, and by then people will be listening after 4 more years of rancid policies and out of control gov't.

In an interview he was asked if his supporters would bite the bullet and support Robme.... his reply was something along the lines of...

They are free to vote whomever they choose, and they are mixed group. Some may support Romney, others would rather take their chanes with the president, many will probably stay home or run for office themselves.

Asked about his support for Robme.... No, I don't see that happening.

What would he have to do to get your support?.... Change his policies!

Asked about Obozo...... [smile/chuckle] No!

Asked about Gary Johnson.... I like Gov Johnson! We disagree on a few points, but he supports liberty and the constitution!

msharmony..I think a lot of people are influenced by "group think" these days. This is why I don't listen to heavily biased news or commentary on a regular basis. (Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, MSNBC etc.)..I don't want to be pulled into anyone's "club" and be fed a steady diet of lopsided and one-sided commentary...I guess today is "Pulpit Freedom Sunday" in Christian churches across the country. (Where pastors are going to speak openly about the election in the name of "free speech.")...All of the pundits and "talking heads" had a "field day" critiquing the first debate the other night and convention speeches a few weeks ago etc. The pundits have a "job" to do! (It's their "job" to promote and defend their candidates and "tear-down" the other "side.")...I always enjoy listening to someone who doesn't have a big "stake" in the race. (But it's hard to find anyone who is neutral anymore.)...How do you feel about all of it? Thanks.

I agree with many of Ron Paul's views. (Always have!) But I disagree with him in some other areas...Awhile back ago I ran into some of Ron Paul's cult-like "followers" on another forum. They seemed a bit brainwashed to me. They acted like Ron Paul was the new "messiah" or ??...I worried about them. It must have been hard for them when Ron Paul didn't win the GOP primary as they expected.

I agree. I actually enjoy the satire of shows like colbert and the daily show. IN their lighthearted comedy about politics, they really do shed light equally on flaws in all camps, without completely tearing anyone down personally or obsessing over any one thing.

STrange when you have to get your trustworthy reports from a satire show huh?....lol

yeah, supporters in all camps can be on the constant defensive when their candidate is attacked, I am guilty too,,lol

its all good though,, I understand wanting to set the record straight when there appears to be a lopsided campaign against someone we support

strangely enough, that constant support is often the result of someone elses constant attacks,,, so it goes both ways,,,

Religion, sex, style, food, politics....there are extremists or fanatics in every camp.

Hopefully, they don't grow to outnumber those who make an attempt at maintaining a level of sanity. laugh

Just think of the difference television has made in our culture, how it has been monopolized by money/power/politics to create.

Now the internet is under attack by the same controlling interests....

This attempt at control is being downplayed by those sources as "cyber warfare", "child protection", "security", "copyrite infringement" and so many other exagerated names and titles, in an attempt to again control the newest mode of public entertainment and information.

The media is selling it well! SOPA, PIPA, CSA.... just watch what happens if it's allowed by congress!

Perhaps, one day, they will recall Al Gore's internet and only allow MSNBS to deliver the news.
That would make for a much nicer world, no?rofl
