You are blaming America yet your son signed up for the military didn't he? There is no draft. He made a decision. He is an adult

Exactly my point

Was your son drafted?

Very good question.

Muslims killed people on our soil, politicians made big speeches, dumba$$ kids fell for it and enlisted.

Happened in Vietnam now 9-11.

Guess what?

In a few years history will repeat.

Thing is Vietnam there was a draft. Thousands of kids were forced to kill & die. These kids today VOLUNTEERED for this. They are made out to be heroes going off to forgein land, killing civilians, coming home mamed and killed! & THEN WE CRY FOUL! Nah, you signed up to kill! To be killed. You volunteered for this. So, your complaints about what you chose to do falls on deaf ears.

I would agree except that they recruit so young. 18 is a number and it doesnt magically make children mature. Recruiters can be sneaky and deceptive and convince these kids of flat out lies to get them to enlist. Some, possibly many, are too naive to fully comprehend the risks,,,

You know exactly how I feel about this. The perks of military involvement for our youth is disturbing... The logic of "sign up" and we'll teach you real world jobs is flawed if the brilliant 19yr old dies in a theater of war.

I can't tell you how sorry I am this is happening to you and your family flowerforyou

Peace!

I am very sorry you are so upset about your son being deployed.

I asked the questions "Was he drafted?" knowing full well the answer.

What did he expect (or your expect when you proudly attending his graduation from boot camp)?

We encourage our children to go off to forgein lands and kill other innocent civilians. And then we complain when they dont come home.

Stop giving our children to these war witches! Stop glorifying the military as some heroic event.

Not my child! NO WAY NEVER!

You seem to be saying that Ruth pushed her son to join and is now upset about it. I didn't read that in her OP at all.

Wow.

I didn't believe it when someone told me this kind of comment was being posted so I had to come back and see for myself.

I didn't encourage him to join the military. He is/was my step son so I have no say in hi life anymore. His father (the man I divorced) was the one who encouraged this. My son is proud to be a Marine and is not upset about being deployed because he brainwashed like most Americans.

I did not support this decision and I didn't attend his graduation proudly. I wasn't even invited to his graduation. But I raised him from the time he was 4 until he was 15. And I love him like my own.

So, you just keep making assumptions about me and my situation.

We are and have been in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, the Philipeans, Africa, the Middle East, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Herzogovina, Somalia, South Africa, Panama, Grenada, Nicaragua, all covert operations to dominate world politics. WE ARE AN EMPIRE,HELLO!

So, if the US is an empire, of the countries listed, which has a Governer sent by Washington to oversee the collection of taxes and raw materials? Which of the countries listed have no military and are policed by US units? Which of the countries listed answer to the US consitution and judicial system? I can't seem to find a map of the Empire of the United States of America.
Empire of the USA MAP??? No wonder Americans are oblivious.

It was not America's choice to be attacked. It was not America's
choice to have irrational violent reactions to cartoons and movies.
Nevertheless we are attacked and we have to deal with irrational
bigotry and hatred based on ignorance and religious intolerance.

We all suffer and anger. Our condemnation should not be directed
at our own government but at those who attack us and at those whose
backwards ignorance and religious hatred causes the violence.

Wrong, religion is a smoke screen for the true quest for power, resourses, oil and strategic positioning. Violence is the result of a powerfull nation in nations that dont want us their. Their armies are not in our country. As for violence, its just a matter of time before we are involved in a big major conflict. Will youbfight? I doubt it, most who defend their goverments secret incurssions world wide want others to fight. But do you really know what these wars are really about? I doubt that you do. And never expect goverment to tell you. I for one had my face in the ****, and my sons already know only fight an invader, not for Isreal or anyother country. Its time for America to get out of the corporate business, if not all our children will inherit war for generations to come, you want to fight for Isreal? Be my guest.
Finaly someone with conscience, how refreaching.

 Anyone who believes our gov't (NOT our country) and the people of power in it, are working for us, with our best interests in mind, is dillusional!

The choices and policies of our "leaders and representatives" have brought us to this point, created and caused this hatred for us.....not our freedoms..... we now have less freedom than most 3rd world countries! The "terrorists" have already beaten us with our own gov't help!

I love my country, but I fear my gov't!
Finally, someone with common sence and conscious of reality, how refreshing.

I'm actually surprised by all the comments asking if he was drafted. Is a mother not allowed to be upset that her son is being deployed? Is anyone not allowed to be upset, because someone decided to join the military and gets deployed?

I'm sorry to hear that, Ruth. I can only imagine how tough it would be to send your child off to war.

Thank you, Emily.

Why hate a country for the decision of a person?

An intelligent kid makes the decision to join, knowing full well he could go to a war zone.

Marines. First in, last out.

I am also really sorry to hear about that Ruth.
Hoping he is returned safely and swiftly.

Thank you. I appreciate that.

I am sorry for any mother, or family, who has a child of age in this generation of warmongers in leadership.

The service used to be a good career move offering training, disipline, travel, early retirement with great benefits, but in this generation it was summed up best by Henry Kissmyass who said .....

“Military men are just dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.”

A member of the Tri-lateral commission, CFR, State Dept, and adviser to many presidents, it's no wonder such a choice has been adulterated!

It's the fault of the people who buy the rhetoric and propaganda keeping such people in power!

I'm sorry for your sacrifice Ruth, and I wish you and your son the best, and for his safety. The Marines are (were) a proud branch of service, don't train you for much on an economic level, but they do instill pride, principle and courage that lasts a lifetime.

I wish the best for both of you.

Being upset is fine and natural. I have a problem with her blaming America. Her son made a choice. America has nothing to do with his decision. Does she expecting he should just get paid by the government but never get deployed? I took the AFOQT when I was in college because I considered being an engineer in the airforce. I met lots of recruits who were there getting their physical or what not. Most were excited. Some this was their Second deployment and they had reenlisted. Some people just like it. You can be scared for him sure, but respect and be proud of his decision.

I blame recruiters who will do/say absolutely anything to get people to enlist. My brother almost did and I'm glad he came to his senses before going through with it.

The choice to "serve" is admirable as only about 2% of the population ever will.

Pride and patriotism are admirable traits.

However, they do not always coincide with the agenda of leadership and the reasons for war. This is the reason for so many veteran suicides these days. The reasons we fight do not aline with the principles our soldiers are taught these days, thereby creating (along with the depression, PTSD, sychotropic drugs and multiple deployments) mental conflicts that can destroy ones ability to cope with the reality of it.

I blame America, as in Americans, for being ignorant and obstinately blind to the fact that our "leaders" are war mongers who continue to put our children in danger for their own benefit. Don't worry, I don't expect you or most others here to agree or even understand this statement. Like I said, obstinate and ignorant.

Whether you agree with my position or not, I would like to thank those of you that expressed concern for myself and my family. I truly appreciate it.

Why not, Congress does!

Make our leaders live under the laws they create for the masses and I guarantee there would be fewer, more reasonable laws in place!
