Do you make it a point to be polite and friendly to restaurant staff and say thank you for their service?

Do you tip well if they've done a good job?

If you answered no to either question, can you explain why?

Well after working in many restaurants I very rarely go to them often. I have worked with alot of servers and they work really hard so I always try and tip well if I go out.......smokin

Humm since in the past I have waited tables and was a bartender for many years it is a must...And if my date does not do the same it is a strike against them...whoa

The way I look at it if you can not afford the tip then do the drive through...

I agree with each of you. I also really wonder about those who come into a restaurant and take their bad moods out on anyone working there. Being rude to a server, hostess or bartender just because they're having a bad day is uncalled for.

I'm always polite and say thank you to restaurant staff but that's just the way I am. I always acknowledge when someone goes that extra mile..when it's not just a job. I'm not even particularly bothered when it's fake as long as the service is good and the staff are attentive.

In most cases, I always leave a tip for good service.

Very polite, I love to have a chat and talk to people,

and we found when we where in America, tipping was a novalty, so yep we enjoyed tipping well, because everyone was so nice and helpful in the restaurants, you felt like the queen. They filled your drinks, kept coming back to see if you wanted anything. When we kept returning to a restaurant, we always tried to get the same people.

It doesnt happen here, you pretty much fend for yourself, without its a very expensive restaurant.

No, I don't make it a point. I'm naturally polite and friendly. I don't think about the tip, I do try to to leave a decent one though, as not to be insulting or too extravagant.

That's good to hear. Usually what I hear when people come from other countries, they often don't tip well because they don't at home.

I actually stopped dating a guy once solely because of the way he treated customer service type people (people he thought he was better than). I always tip well and am friendly with my servers, and I always get GOOD service.

It bothers me to see people treat customer service people (including those working in stores or any other type of customer service) like they are better than them.

I always tip well and get good service as well.

I am always polite to those who work hard to provide service.
I can be a very generous tipper if all the elements are right.
A cheerful attitude, great service, attention to detail and reasonable attention as to their customer load and they will be well compensated for that.
On the other hand....
I can be a cheapskate for those who are just gettin it done.
