Ok, so what is considered the difference between the body types?

Average - Slender - Athletic

I am in good shape but I consider myself Average - I see Slender as someone very slim and Athletic is in "very" good shape.

But depending on who's profile I see - it varies quite a bit.

So I guess what I'm asking is if someone put one of the three options for body type - What would you expect to see?

Thanks,
William

I always expect to see "a few extra pounds", but I thin most people would put down Average; unless the are actively into sports or slender if they are petite. Often it depends on what a person has heard about their body shape.

That's hard to answer. For instance; some people would see me as average, or a few pounds overweight, muscular, or fit. Guess it depends on the person's perspective of you.

One of the perplexing issues on this site...Funny, I still recall seeing threads like these back when I was quite active.

Take whatever they say with a grain of salt until you see them.

Ya know, if they only had a build labeled
'Anorexic on the inside, Chubby on the outside'
we would get a concensus.

I guess you put however you see yourself. So its a personal thing. It's a little like trying to describe your own personality.

Dont get me wrong i have nothing against large ladies , it's just that i drive a honda civic.

I prefer someone to avoid putting lables on themself and just post some pictures; which are worth a thousand words; especially if they are recent.

If that's you in the middle of that photo, I'd say average. Just my opinion now.

These terms are subjective, depends on your taste/preferences.

Some guys dig bigger chicks and to them I'm probably slender or athletic. To a serious athlete, I'm probably a few extra pounds. To average Joe, I'm probably average.

I can only tell you my take on the difference between these two:

Slender: Alfalfa could bench press me.

Athletic: I could bench press him.

Pictures say more than those choices could ever say, so I usually expect to see clear pictures of what the person looks like.

I think it's a way someone is told the way they look by those that know you the most.

That can be dicey because I have seen a lot of people have really distorted body image from the hatchet jobs their friends, even more so, their family or ex-spouse has done on them.

And the reality that not all people have the kind of financial support (insurance) to do all the little "perks" that make some people fit and pretty in cosmetic ways.

I am always amazed at how some like to dictate appearance on dating sites but it is not coming out of their pocket. Or if you have the kind of job that is high stress, locked into a sedentary situation, with a two plus hour a day commute it is kind of hard to have the perfect body. Not even factoring in age. The ones that say I am x years old but only look -20 yearsX give me a headache lol.
