Sense we've covered a gentleman already, I thought it'd fun to look at the other side as well.

So, what qualities make a lady?

I'll have to put some thought into it before I have my list of qualities, but Myrna Loy was head to toe a lady.

Pretty much like a gentleman, but female and feminine.

Hmmm guess this thread should be expected.

I pretty much hold a lady to the same standards I do a gentleman so got to go with Totage on this one.

Maybe add making an effort to be feminine with out being manipualtive or submissive.

Always considered being a lady was a privilege but not easy since ladies are not always percieved as being feminine if they are some of the other traits that actually make them a lady.

A Lady causes the man to feel like a Gentleman. Gentleman treats the woman like a Lady.

A lady is a woman who can recognize a gentleman in the blink of an eye....

Charm is deceptive and beauty fades. A lady is clothed with strength and dignity, she is wise, respected, unafraid, generous, protective, loyal and her love is worth everything to the man blessed enough to have her as his wife.

This

It is not just about elegance and class. It is inner beauty, self respect, confidence and the determination to succeed in the face of adversity and dilemma.

Originally, ladies and gentlemen were people who were members of aristocracy (a.k.a. gentry). Their upbringing was more refined than that of commoners. For example, sex outside of marriage was considered unbecoming of a lady or a gentleman.

[The late Scottish novelist George MacDonald described the lifestyle of gentry in his many novels.]

What is a Lady?

A Lady is as mystical as Love.
You know when you are in the presence of it.
And you know when you are not.

My grandmother once told me a woman should be seen and not heard.

I believe a lady is refined, polite and well-spoken.

Everybody is different and seems to have their own perspective on what they consider to be the epitome of a lady or gentleman. I believe them both to be governed by an era.

Blasted typos!

I have heard this to from a few choice people as I grew up, and never could understand such a cold and inconsiderate viewpoint. It is amazing that there are still people who feel this way, and given a chance actually express it. I do still run across this from time to time as I am sure many of us here do. To me, this could be the rational behind somehow who sees a woman as a Lady of sorts I suppose, but only a Lady for show & tell and polish, and not one who can lead, create, explore and dream. Not as a woman... but as a thing so to speak.

The world and system has changed considerably since those days, but I often wonder how much it has really changed at all, and not just changed how it is perceived? I am sure for some it makes the world an easier more simple place, but it is a place I often get tired of looking at.

I have been reading on psychology today that there are 4 types of people. Explorer, Builder, Negotiator and something else. Which ever one/s you are determines which type you are compatible with. I will start a thread on it today.

Director.

It was a test created by Helen Fisher I believe. For the record, I am a negotiator. :)
