Of the same mind on most points 'garden',

... until you let go of this allegorical bit :

'... The Democratic Ideals lean heavily toward socialism in that they want a huge government that does all and controls.'

When you take the 'Democratic' agenda, and put in perspective with a world-wide political axis, it is nowhere near 'leaning heavily toward socialism'. Dominant state CONTROL with little free-enterprise leaway and individual freedoms, and state INVOLVEMENT on certain chosen fronts, in an ocean of free-enterprise and individual freedoms, remain a very wide field apart.

Thanks for the allegory 'garden'. :)
(I know you did purposely to stimulate the morning debate!!!)

Can't help wonder though, that while the puppeteers have us unconsciously bicker on this intestinal 'right-left', 'democrat-republican', 'christian-non-christian' cat fights,

THEY, THE PUPPETEERS, IN EFFECT EXERCISE TOTAL CONTROL OVER ALL LEVERS OF POWER, ... LEAVING CRUMBS AND MAGIC TRICKS TO...

'... WE THE PEOPLE!!!'

I grew up in the shadow of the cold war. A time when the enemy was a large over-powering force of evil. A time of personal and social sacrifices for the fight of good over evil. LOLNF (laugh out loud not funny)

I voted for Reagan, he was the right man at the right time. drinker The man for the job...

Would his policies be as effective in today's world as they were then. (????)
Anyway, I was glad that the wall came down, and my service to this country and (naive youth) the world for for a just cause!
I thought (naive) that now we, America, could use our power, influence, and money to better peoples lives. Not free gifts, but needs; Education, Medical Care, hunger, poverty, etc...Yes, I said naive!!! Label me away....... I'll just prove you wrong tomorrow?? But yeah, I had been told all these lies, as many Americans were, that first the defense budget needed those funds to defeat the Communist threat!
Where did that money they were spending go? I dont see it, I dont see life in America getting better.
What I do see disgust me. I see lies, past and present, I see our rights being nibbled away as if their removal is by design.
I see an aggressive America, I see a Complacent shackled America public, and I see an America that has lost its way!
I see the enemy of my youth!!!!!

AND I GET ANGRY!!!!!!

Am I conservative? I dont want to see remain the status quo, I want things to go to a more positive level. In a way though, that is unchanging and feels the lies I was told with truth. You never hear me complain about the war in Afghanistan. That's because I think we should nail their ass to the post. They attacked us, If anything we are being too easy on them. We should send all the troops in Iraq there, and hunt down Al qaeda down like dogs. If there were one spot in the world they wouldn't exist, it would be Afghanistan.

Am I liberal???Probably leaning more that way, right now!
Not so leaning that I believe in every thing that comes from their bleeding heart lips. I would change the phrase "free handouts," to "Deserved help" though! At the same time I would shut-down our illegal immigration problem so quick, without listening to a single bleeding heart whisper let alone cry, that it would have some people calling me Satan! laugh laugh But they'd also say; "problem solved."

Corporations neither, if I made the money they made I dont think it would be bad to pay a higher tax. I wouldn't let them add it to the price of their merchandise either. HUH, the grotesque profit margins they display to the public would just have to absorb the extra tax. Yes by law, if thats the way it has to be!
I dont know what you'd call me, but I am intrigued!!laugh laugh

I'm Back ...probably for more punishment....maybe I am a sadomasichist, rather then a moderate independentlaugh Viol...you got 9 out of the 11 close...not too bad:wink: ...but I didn't say I felt enslaved...just the contrary....and I said "worked long hours" (past tense). As for Vintage French sports cars....didn't know they existed...can't think of anything the french made that was worth a damn except maybe their wine...and even that has fallen below any decent standards. I think it has decimated on a parallel with their social system..lol. But I will drink a nice vintage french wine with ya...I prefer a Chateau Latour Pauillac 1989 or a Chataeu Latour 1976..however the 76 is increasingly rare and hard to find anymore. So I will drink mine and you drink yours and we can discuss the pontifications of all parties and catch a nice buzz too drinker drinker drinker drinker drinker
