If you're at a restaurant and the server did a great job, how much do you generally tip? 20% = Great 15% = Good 10% = OK 5% = Bad 0% = N\A or Worst |
|

|
Generally $20 is an average tip. More if I have been drinking

Usually around €20 if there's a good few people at the table. It doesn't matter how much you tip (over here) cause it's all divided equally between all the waiters at the end of the night. I used to waitress and I'm telling you their is some serious money to be made, but damn it is actually a tough job! |

If you're at a restaurant and the server did a great job, how much do you generally tip? 20% = Great 15% = Good 10% = OK 5% = Bad 0% = N\A or Worst Well, I usually give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they may have just been having a bad day or so, and therefore tip them low, unless it's repetitive of that specific individual, or it seems they just don't care or something. If an establishment as whole is poor on two occasions, I don't go a third time and mark it as a bad place to dine for at least six months, then I may try them again to see if things have improved. |

Not sure how the American dollar rates against the Euro.(I think $20 American = 37 Euros) but, most waitress/waiter split thier tips here too. Every job is tough when you do it right...it's a job. I tip heavy for service and friendlyness....and it works. |

That's not bad, that's worst. Also, servers have nothing to with the quality of the food. |

I average 15 percent, but better service is definatly more. When i go out, I go places where service is top knotch. I once tipped a waitress at Jimmys Stairhouse 100 percent, doubled the bill. She was great and made the night a blast. Thats what its all about

My Dad says that it depends on if they keep his tea glass filled.

Twenty percent, unless they were lousy. Then it's fifteen.

I usually tip 20%. If the service was very good, I may tip more.
If I can't afford to tip, I don't go to a restaurant where I would need to do so. |

In australia we don't tip. But while we where in America we found it fun, every person who did things for us was so friendly and helpful, we did around 30%. We did go out a couple of times with other people who seemed really demanding, so then my children out of embarrassment would throw in extra to make up for them having to run around after us. We tried to get the same people each time, just because they where nice. I think it has to be because we are paid more, I think the base wage you can be paid is around $19 an hour, time and a half on saturdays and double time Sundays but not many people would work for that. Honestly we just don;t think to do it, we haven't been brought up with it. Also in most places here you just don't have the amount of waitresses or waiters that you do there in the one place, so you get up and get your own drinks as we don't have refills of anything, Our service normally consists of taking our order bringing it and that's pretty much it, they may come and ask once if you would like to buy another drink , but thats pretty much it. In America you are waited on like you are something special, it''s pretty neat. |

Not the servers fault the cook can't cook, if they served you well, why penalize them for the cooks incompetence? I would certainly get a reduced bill at the very least, but if the server did their job well, they deserve a tip. |

I generally tip very well.
I have 3 nieces putting themselves through college on their server salaries/tips. I assume 'they' are all someone's niece/nephew trying to make a decent wage so I tip generously unless it was pretty crappy service. |

I have MS so I tip toward my cane, its worse when Ive been drinking. Too many drinks I dont just tip, I fall flat on my face!

well up to you my friend but if i was sick from the food i not paying nothing not even tipping i mean ok yes so they served you nice poison with a smile now tip them lollllll i mean raw chicken is same as poison:)say your service was so nice but 1 min you got a throw up bag lolll and heres your 20% tip cause you were great but i am sooooo sick lollllll Damn. You lollllllllllllllllllll even when talking about being sick! So, if your food was undercooked (can't see them serving completely raw chicken)you'd take it out on the waitress by not tipping? Are you going to restaurants where the servers are also doing the cooking as well? |
