New Pledge of Allegiance!

Since the Pledge of Allegiance

and

The Lord's Prayer

are not allowed in most

public schools anymore

Because the word "God" is mentioned....

A kid in Arizona wrote the attached

NEW School prayer.

I liked it.

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the ru l e

For this great nation under God

Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow

Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise.

Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall

! Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,

God's name is prohibited by the state.

You know, this belongs under religion, since this is a very pro-Christian way of looking things. I find the "poem" very offensive.

it offends ME because it plays on emotion. separation of church and state is a GOOD thing...and everyone should have the right to freedom of religion.

and there's a difference between having the teachers LEAD the students in prayer, and the children praying on their own.

I don't find it offensive........and everyone does have a right to their own religion. But we are all Americans and we should proudly say so whether it be in prayer or in a pledge! PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!

I am an agnostic, so I'm basically a live and let live type of person, (I believe in a Universal energy or life force, call it what you will, but I don't subscribe to any organized religious tenets or creeds).

That said, I don't find religion or mention of religion to be necessary in a classroom setting, (unless of course you're talking about the study of theology or similar subjects). IMHO if you want to pray, go to church, if you want to study and learn, go to school, and if you don't want to do either one, then get a job working for the federal government. :)

What does praying in school have to do with loving our country ??

I am a proud American but I see NO need for religion to be forced upon someone in a classroom setting or anywhere else .
