Topic: Artists!

There are numerous art forms, visual arts, performing arts, architectural art, literary art.... etc. I believe artists are greatly influenced by other art forms.
Personally, I can't draw a straight line and I can't play ANY instruments but I do consider myself an artist because I create and manufacture a household appliance that is truly... Forever! I create it for others to enjoy and use.... and also to earn a living.

I absolutely love and admire all other art forms. No matter the beauty of it, I'll love it just because someone put the energy and effort in completing it.

Do you agree that anyone who creates things for others is an artist? and what DO YOU create?

Yes, anything created is an art of some sort.
I too can't draw a straight line, let alone stick figures, nor play any musical instruments at all...but I so admire those that can and do have that talent.

I create gardens...and laughter...and goodwill.

How's them antlers?

Yes, and it doesn't even necessarily have to be for others. Art for oneself is still art.

and what DO YOU create?

Just books, at this point. But I've been involved in music, I used to do comic strips, I like photography....I have ideas for multi-media things, but that's a long way down the road....

An artist expresses themself in a creative manner. It may bring them fame and fortune, but they do it mainly to express something creatively. I don't think that simply manufacturing something is art. However, if you were to paint designs or something on the product, that may be a form of art.

I kinda agree yea... For me, this falls under "if a tree falls in the forest" category. It's art that no one but the artist can appreciate.

I have a theory, if they show their art as a way of fishing for compliments... They ain't that great of an artist.

If they're willing to part with it or share it... They've just climbed many notches in the artistic world.... JMHO.

Interesting, So art to you is a transfer of colors or script to a surface? cool!

In my case Totage, I designed and created items from scratch, chose the absolute best and ideal materials and put them together in harmony to create a fully functioning unit to last a lifetime and beyond. I suppose you could be right tho... it's not really art art but then again, writers choose the perfect words slap em together to make a book... Do you consider writers to be artists? just curious

i don't think art is for anyone else.
it's mostly for yourself.
if the artist calls it art,
then it's art.
i make messes.

Ahh but for writing and designing structures,
I have no artistic talents.
And I also admire those who do.
Seems like magic to me :-)
Pucker, 'bout time you showed up.

Are all household appliance art? What makes yours different?

What matters is that you think it's art. It doesn't matter what others think.

No, it can be anything.

I wasn't trying to say what you do isn't art. I was saying simply manufacturing say toasters is not art, but if you were to design and paint them different, that maybe art.

Of course writers are artists.

What you do is a form of art. I develop websites, that is also a form of art.

Not really, it's just another medium. Instead of canvas and paint, it's 0s and 1s. :)
