but you're just pushing buttons.
o.O

And when you're painting on canvas you're just pushing a brush around. It's not what you do that makes it art, but more HOW you do it that makes it art. IMO

There are numerous art forms, visual arts, performing arts, architectural art, literary art.... etc. I believe artists are greatly influenced by other art forms.
Personally, I can't draw a straight line and I can't play ANY instruments but I do consider myself an artist because I create and manufacture a household appliance that is truly... Forever! I create it for others to enjoy and use.... and also to earn a living.

I absolutely love and admire all other art forms. No matter the beauty of it, I'll love it just because someone put the energy and effort in completing it.

Do you agree that anyone who creates things for others is an artist? and what DO YOU create?

Are all household appliance art? What makes yours different?

What matters is that you think it's art. It doesn't matter what others think.

You have a point, I guess I'd need to show how I make what I make but no, not all appliances are artistic... All I'm saying is my units are art because I didn't copy paste anything. From concept to final product... It wasn't made with the cookie cutter quick buck mentality. To be honest, This thread was not about my creation(s), was more about trying to figure out what others consider art.

What do you create SMS?

And that's why you don't think photography is art, because the camera is doing it for you?

What about paint by numbers? Is that art? You're doing the painting, but didn't come up with the design and not painting free-form.

I'm not in anyway saying what you do is not art. I was just curious. Do you have any pictures of what you do?

I do photography (though, according to B, it isn't art ). I've painted a little in the past, as well as done some graphic design.

Paint by numbers is entertainment, not art. lol Although, entertainment can be a form of art. But in the case of paint by numbers, someone else is directing you on how to do something, that's not art.

a brush is much more manual.
for me the art is simply an idea.
if your brain tells you to express it in a certain way,
then fine;
that's your art.
there's just something very impersonal to me with using technology.
i dunno.
i'm blabbering.

yes.
and painting by numbers i wouldn't consider art either.
it's all about the idea for me.
i need to know the idea behind it,
and anything digital just seems so cold to me.
perhaps i need a digital translator.

WebSite Creation IS art... Making a working site that appeals to the user from scratch is art! Templates are for Puzzies! and fall under the cookie cutter banner.

Photography IS art... Art that almost anyone can do. I would cherish a developed picture taken by someone if it was offered to me. No matter if it was a pic of their boot, they took the time to capture the moment and offer it to me. Yea...it could be an awful pic and suddenly turns into TIME LIFE picture of the year if it's offered to me.

I think photography is art. Some people have an eye for making a photo look more than just a holiday snapshot.

Photography does have an idea behind it depending on who takes the picture.

I only asked that because of the way she talked about digital art and photography, because you just pushed some buttons.

Sure, anyone can take a picture. Not everyone takes good pictures, though. And not everyone can develop pictures well. I used to love to spend time in the dark room. I wish I had access to one now.

well if the artist says so,
then fine.
i'll take his word for it.
it works for him.
it won't ever do anything for me though.

Ceramic artist eh? Pardon my ignorance, is that like pottery? or more like designing graphics on a bathroom walls. This is a new trend in decor... Very cool!
